Advice for support

Hi I am hoping I can get some advice on how best to support someone coming off and having a set back with prescription drugs. I've recently met a new partner and in a very short time it's moved very fast and they are now living with me. They have told me they've been trying to come off the likes of k PAC and diazepam but I came home yesterday to a txt to say they had to go get tablets and they needed a few days and they were sorry they've gave up. I've tried to contact them but they are just ignoring me. I love this person very much and don't know what to do for the best or if this sort of thing is normal. I've no one else to ask as none of my friends have been in this place.

Hi Jemlb. Welcome to the forum. we have another forum for loved ones of addicts you should check it out. You are not going to like what I have to say but my best advice is to let your addict feel the consequences of his/her actions.. By this I mean if my significant other where to do this I would have their bags packed and in storage.. I would suggest You educating yourself on addiction. We are thief's and liars, before we rob you blind of material things we will lie too you so much you think it is you who is going crazy when all along it is your significant others addiction that is controlling the whole show.. You are in a New relationship with a Drug Addict. a addict will not get clean until they want to get clean is the bottom line and anything you say our do is second to their addiction as they are proving right now. You might want to ask yourself why you choose to be in this type of relationship.. You deserve respect and loyalty you will find none of this in a active addict. Educate yourself on this disease and maybe check out Al Anon a support group for loved ones of addicts.. Please think carefully read the stories in the other forum ask yourself is this what I want for my life, It will be the most Important question you ask yourself.. lesa
