Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How is it possible that I had the determination to get off opiates (76 days!) but I can't manage to quit smoking cigarettes? I know they are just as bad for me, if not worse, than the pain meds but I can't seem to even make it 1 day. I've tried patches, gum, hypnosis, books on tapes, and anything else I could think of. And I really want to quit but haven't even made it a single day yet.

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I need to conquer this and I am getting really frustrated.

Thanks for any help, Patty

Hi  well I quit smoking a pack of black&mild cigars 4 weeks ago  I used the 21mg patch and a smokless vap/pen  the first 3 days I felt like I was going to dye  no one told me you dont inhale those so who knows how high the nicateen level was in my blood  all I know is the patch and 21mg juise wasent touching it...well I survived and steped down to 18mg juise then 12.. now im on 6mg  also am not smoking it like a mad man any more just 10 min every few hours  im stepping down to 3mg on friday  hopfuly for a week then jumping off every thing  I highly recamend the vap/pen it has made all the difference it gives you that smoking action without lighting up and you can slowly decrease the nicateen dosege  you can pick them up for around 50.00 bucks give it a try  good luck to you

You are definitely not a loser! You are someone that helped inspire me enough in those early days to make it this far and that alone qualifies you as an amazing winner in my book. I lied to my kids and grandkids and told them that I quit smoking at the same time I quit the pain meds-so now I am a "closet" smoker, lol. But I either have to quit or fess up, oh boy.

I had quit for 5 yrs and started back up due to circumstances in life.  I will say that www.whyquit.com is a wonderful website for support. Also, "Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr is very helpful.  I never had a health issue using the ecig, but never felt like it was a close enough replacement , if you will.  Best of luck to you and keep us posted!

Spider stop saying that! Qpatty, congratulations on your awesome clean time.  My suggestion is to concentrate on getting more time under your belt away from opiates before you tackle the cigs. Cigs kill but opiates kill faster.  One thing at a time.

My father died of lung and throat cancer and even that isn't enough to make me quit!

Same here! They do have that program I see on tv more and more that gives free counseling and smoking cessation products. I only found an ecig helped. But beware because I got so sick using it! My tongue, tonsils, and throat were coated in white puss stuff. Doc said I was the sickest person he'd seen in a while. So now I'm very wary of them. I didn't share it either. But, isn't sugar and nicotine the most addictive substances? Dont quote me on that, just thought I heard it somewhere.
