Anyone taken Chantix?

Has anyone here ever taken Chantix to quit smoking?
I took my first pill this morning, scheduled to take the next tomorrow morning..
I was at work today and I was sooooo drained from being up all night (the little one kept me up! UGH!) and I couldn't really tell if anything was different about the 'smoking' habit or not.. I DID, however, notice that I wasn't getting diddly squat out of the cigarette.. like puffing on air.. (only had 6 today.. lighting, taking two puffs, putting it out, relighting)
I'm wondering, how long does it take to actually get into your system and for it to start stopping/blocking the nicotine from entering the receptors? (It didn't state any of this on the website)
Another important question is this: Is this a medication that you have to wean off of? Is it habit forming? If so, I'm not taking it anymore.. don't wanna go through the garbage of having to 'wean' again!
Please let me know, guys.. Love ya all!

OH! I almost forgot to ask, ALSO- how long does it take for Chantix to get into your system and start rejecting the nicotine?? I swear, it's only been two days, and it's already working! but, I could be wrong..
When do the withdrawal symptoms from the nicotine actually go away?

You had insomnia? That's the last thing I need right now! lol
I'm on day two of the Chantix, and I tried smoking, and it tastes horrible!
So, I'm done smoking.. I just gotta get through the first two weeks, is all..
Did you have to wean off of the Chantix at all?

Hi!  I just completed my 120th day of non-smoking!  I did it with Chantix.  Nothing else ever worked until now.  I would highly recommend doing the online support thing.  It is the only way to understand what is happening to you.  I went through many sleepless nights but trust me, it is well worth it in the end!

Good Luck!

Hey guys! I just got home from work and realized how many posts were here.. holy cow! LOL.. I'm glad someone's paying attention, at least.. hehehe
Today's day 2 on the Chantix (my insurance paid for it).. Today I can feel really strong withdrawal symptoms from the nicotine, and if I try to 'light up', it's like puffing on air.. so, only 1 cigarette today.. :D.. why smoke when it's not doing me any good? never did anyway! lol
I'm having moderate cravings, but not as bad as when I quit cold turkey.. oh my.. that was LOVELY! lol.. NOT
The Chantix is safe for me, at least I hope, because I'm not on any medications.. Just vitamins b, c, and d and cranberry capsules (cranberry helps aid in detoxing when it comes to nicotine releasing from the blood stream, comes out in the urine)
Still a major insomniac here.. only one or two days out of the week, I will actually sleep for about 6-7 hours.. Weird, too.. I still feel like my blood pressure is rising, although it's not.. too strange.. (all part of coming off of the Tramadol)
Welp, I gotta run for now.. gotta get dinner on for the kids, THEN do about 100 other things..

Love ya guys!

is the 123.00 for 30 days? i thought it was alot more.. funny how they pay for the problems smoking causes but not pay to help you quit.. they should think hey if we pay now for chantix, and we quit how much money would the insurance save in the long run..silly how the insurance company's work.. are you going to fill your script??

Dianejax- it sounds like with that attitude you are already setting yourself up for failure..Or maybe you just know yourself and know the truth, who knows!

Angel-- I am glad to see you around and posting. It does sound like you have a crazy hectic life going on.. See I am not even at a point where I can get and hold a job down due to the pills.  I have had so many people saying negative things to me about me getting on the suboxone, but they have no clue how bad my addiction really is.  I would rather be managing suboxone for the rest of my life even rather than spending $500-1000 each month on pills, hurting the ones I love, hurting myself, OR DYING!!

I am proud of you that you were able to taper off, then stay clean and then manage to do 2 jobs and make alot of money for you and your loved ones. I AM VERY JEALOUS OF YOU!  I hope one day soon, I can just get and hold any job so that I can help bring in money for us.. My fiancee needs me back.  When this Death happened with Heath Ledger she took it really hard and asked me "isnt that the painkiller you take?" I was like "yeah, but i dont mix anything with it at all" and she was like "but you take alot and it scares me"!  I felt horrible.. Right then I wish I was capable of just stopping and staying clean on my own..

i just had my dr write a script for chantix last friday, i havent filled it yet cause i wanted to know a little more about it. i did find out my insurance doesnt cover it, and ive looked at pram. med prices and cant find it anywhere.. i am curious how much it is, i know its worth the $ in the long run if you quit.. but that $ run is a really long one this month..i just had neck fusions on jan. 15. and smoking really delays full recovery. also quit hydro yesterday so if i try to quit smoking at the same time i will probally fail at one or both..let me know how its going..and maybe what you paid.. thanks, diane

Quiting the smokes is something I really want to attempt one of these days. I was curious about that Chantix too.  Guess I'll deal with one addiction at a time. Good luck with this Alli. And congrats on the new job, pay increase etc. Sounds like things are really going great for you.

all i know about it is that you cannot drink alcohol with it at all and that includes any kind of cold medicines that might have alcohol in them! I remember hearing scary reports on the news about some people having gone crazy after mixing the two and some even died! so just becareful with that stuff and good luck on the quitting! Im still weaning myself down on the # of cigs I have a day!

Welp, I've done some research.. :D.. it states that abruptly stopping it will cause severe withdrawals.. I'm taking it for another two days or so, and I'm done! Not going there! lol

Hey girl! :D:D.. glad to see SOMEONE on! lol.. I've been working my rear off! UGH!
I went back to work today for a company I worked for, for 2 years, then I walked out on them in October because of drama and chaos, but the people responsible for THAT were fired, so they called me yesterday and asked me to come back.. They offered me nearly DOUBLE the pay and bonuses plus commission, so I accepted.. However, it's sooo stressful.. although VERY boring at times and VERY quiet.. today was a horrible day for me, and figures- my 1st day back to work for them, I left an hour early! lol.. I didn't sleep at all last night- the little one had me up!
I'm ALSO working part time (from home) for an insurance/retirement plan company as well.. talk about some stress! But I love my work! :D.. I've even thought about NOT going back to college, because I'm making MORE money now than I would be after getting OUT of college.. geez, go figure!
so anyway, I noticed I'm not getting SQUAT out of the cigarettes.. the Chantix is definitely working in blocking the nicotine.. YAY! :D:D.. I'm just hoping to God I don't have to taper off of this garbage when I'm done taking it! I've thought about putting the Chantix aside once the 72 hours is up.. I could care less about cravings.. it's just the nicotine withdrawals that had me on edge! Ready to kick someone's Arse! lol
Anyway, I hope someone hears me! lol.. Thanks for your response! Take care! I'll keep ya updated! Blessings!
