Back from my inpatient detox

Just got back from a 6 day inpatient detox, and I'm feeling decent for the most part. The protocol they used was a norco taper with up to 80 mg of baclofen a day, promethazine for nausea, vistoril for anxiety, Motrin for aches, and melatonin for sleep. The first 2 days were 40mg of norco, then 30, then 20, with 2 5mg norcos the day before I left. My last day there was just a dose of baclofen before being discharged. Withdrawals are very mild with my last pill being almost 48 hours ago. Aside from some nighttime rls I would say the detox was very effective. I even got about 4 hours of sleep last night with just a little magnesium.  Starting meetings tomorrow.  Let the recovery begin!

Hey Down! Congratulations on getting through the inpatient detox! That is truly great news.  If you are still having RLS try taking some Epsom Salt baths. They really do help. Glad you are starting meetings. I wish you all the best! Keep posting your progress. Take care!

Good for YOU!! Now the Journey will really begin and each and every day you will grow as you learn more and more. Changes are always good and they will happen. You soon will find your self Spiritually, Mentally and Physically Balancing out. Not the physical, physical part of detox, but just within you as you grow. Always be Safe by setting up some good Boundaries and learn all the things that causes Triggers so you can avoid them or change them..I wish you the best.

The baclofen was definitely a life saver. I really wish they would have sent me home with some,  but it is what it is. The taper is without a doubt easier in a controlled environment when somebody is administering it for you. I highly recommend the inpatient to anyone considering it.

Glad to see you are clean. Gotta say--things sure have changed. the treatment centers I went to did not use ANY drugs or ANY kind to help with detox. It was nail biting and they pushed aftercare, aftercare, aftercare. they set me up in a half-way community for one year. 90 meetings in 90 days, a sponsor, work the steps, etc, etc. Will you be doing aftercare?

I have read a lot about using baclofen in high doses for alcoholics and certain drugs. It is supposed to literally take away the addiction and any desire to use it as long as you take it.  The Wikipedia for it talks about it. This is the first I have heard it used in detox center.

Good job. Keep it going.
