WHAT???

I would like to know what peeps on here do for their pain issues, if you were on pain med for pain, what do you do now. Im not talking about a tooth-ache pain, Im talking about real issues, like pinched nerves in neck, bulging disc in neck and back, and so forth. I have muscle spasm really bad on one side of shoulder, on and on. I take a Tylenol but that doesn't help, and I have TMJ which im trying to treat, but is very painful. I am just wondering, what others do that have a lot of pain issues and I know their are a lot on here that do.

One other thing: Describe ANXIETY, I would like to know everyones definition of anxiety.

Hi!  I've been reading this forum and have kept up on your posts.  I think what you've done is wonderful!  What's in the elixir?  If it helps, I want to try it.  Thank you!

I can't help to much with the pain issue as I am right there with you as to how to get through the really tough times. I have found that Flexural helps some, and I too have had the steroid injections. When the nerve pain gets bad enough I have had to go on a tapering dose of oral steroids which for me works better than the injections. I have also taken Neurontin but I can't stand how it makes me twitch so I am not a big fan of it. Anxiety, I have lots of experience with. For me it is a huge pressure between my stomach and heart. My heart races and I shake all over. My whole body feels like it is racing. Panic sets in and engulfs my whole body. My head gets heavy, and I breath very fast. I can't sit still but I lack any sort of ability to concentrate making it nearly imposable to redirect my mind with any organized activity. It can be very painful and terrifying for me. CONGRATULATIONS ON 41 DAYS!!!! You amaze me with how strong you are. Keep asking these great questions, the responses help me and I'm sure so many others as well.

Im on day 65 now..I guess its just time we need since it took time to get in this position ..I have had 6 months clean time before this but had surgery and got back on the vicious cycle.. Im so grateful to be back to some form of normal..

I do remember at month 4 thinking life was as normal as it could possibly be..Im waiting for that to hit again eventually

I deal with chronic pain issues(many surgeries,hip,back break,kidney stones,Lupus etc)

I found that for me Motrin and heating pad is my best friend..I actually had just as much pain if not more when I was back on my highest dose of meds ever which was 3 100MG Fentanyl patches ..That is saying something for how well the body can actually cope without the drugs and how they disguise symptoms.

I found that I had very little anxiety when on my meds if at all(they tend to numb you emotionally or give false happiness)..off them I'm pretty bad..

I try and do either deep breathing with muscle tension/relaxations and visuals as cheesy as it sounds..it calms the mind and gives your muscles something to do..sitting outside fresh air if you can't take walks even helps sometimes..

How long have you been off the Norcos btw??

So,Motye did your anxiety start when you got off your DOC? Or did you have a lot of anxiety before the drugs? I don't know if Im asking the right thing for sure. Anxiety right now for me, feels like I need to keep moving, cant concentrate very long, my thoughts are all over the place and yes when I have to go somewhere it makes me anxious. Before I got back on the Norco, I could go anywhere by myself, do anything. Now, I feel insecure about getting out, it makes me real nervous. Am I making sense? Just trying to gather a thought is troubling.

I'm not sure my answer will help with your pain but my pain is all in my back and neck also.  I did find that once I stopped taking the pain meds it dramatically got better!  But when it flares up I still go to the Pain Mgt Doc and get shots.  He does the cortisone and also nerve blocks, at different times, and it helps so much!!!
I also have found that for me aleve helps more than Tylenol or motrin.
Hope you are able to find some relief!!!!

As far as pain is concerned, if needed I take 2 Tylenol or 2 Motrin. I also do yoga and excercise every day.  Strengthing my back with yoga has helped an awful lot.  Sometimes I soak in Epsom Salt bathes for minor aches and pains.
Anxiety still comes and goes for me.  But now it's NO WHERE near as often as it was before.  I describe anxiety as panic....sometimes worry disguised as fear.  When I feel it start to come on in my gut I try to slow my breathing and usually I go get my husband b/c he's seen me go through this before so talking with him through it (anyone) does help b/c they can watch you....I thought I was having a freakin heart attack....cold wet rag on the back of my neck sitting on floor with my head between my legs.  The rag helps as well.

Thanks Blu, I just never had anxiety til I come off Norco, I mean we all have some anxiety to a degree, but never like this. I feel like a Nat on Speed right now. Iv never taken speed, but what the hell, ever time I get off the pain med, I feel crazy with anxiety, or maybe the ability to feel like I have to be moving all the time, is this normal to coming off Norcos?

For  pain, I have used crushed tylenol mixed with a couple drops of water, and applied this directly to my skin where the pain is.  That generally takes the edge off.  If I am having ALOT of pain in general (fatigue), I will take a tramadol.  But that is addictive for many people.  For some strange reason, tramadol does not trigger an addictive response in me.  As far as my anxiety, i know i feels different to everyone who has it, with a few basic symptoms in common.  When i get anxious over something, first I will isolate myself at home where I feel safe.  If that isn't enough, I will have trouble sleeping, then when the panic attack begins, my hands start to shake, and I know it's coming, and i try to relax - sometimes it works, sometimes not.  If not, I will hyperventilate, my hands and feet go numb, and i cry and i pace and i scream and feel nauseous.  This can go on for hours, and once gone will wipe me out for 48 hours - I will do nothing but sleep.  This is REALLY debilitating because I don't have a specific trigger.  I never know when it will happen - hence my inability to work. :'(
