CATAPRES-TTS PATCH

I have utilized this patch for three days now, I was using Norco, and Soma due to a car accident 8 months ago, I tapered down until last Tuesday then quit cold turkey. All WDS hit me like a ton of bricks. I was using them as perscribed but 2 pills every 4 hrs leads to 8-10 a day if you already don't sleep. Since Tuesday morning I put the patch on and all symptoms except stomach and insomia are gone... THANK GOD. Now after 6 nights of no sleep, no energy, and flu like symtons I am going nuts. I talked to my Dr. and he gave me a three night supply of ambien for sleep, and immodium for stomach, so far everything is cool. I went through 6 days of hell, but I am starting to see the light. Had I known about the patch sooner I would have gotten it right away. Now I just need answers to deal with the pain without the meds...???

Most of us have experienced rebound pain after we have stopped the pills.  The pain does get better so hang in there.  My biggest discovery after i quit was that Motrin really does work!!          sara

Yeah thanks I think the same as you. When I am fully detoxed I can move forward, and use OTC when needed. Part of the problem is the DR gave me script for 2 ills every 4 hrs... that turns into alot of pills per day. Fortunatley I did not go over and above the dosage, but still after a long period of time withdrawls are innevitable. It has been rough but the patch is a God send. Thanks for your words.

Congrats on getting clean.  I used (and still do) clonidine in pill form, and it works well.  The immodium will help your stomach, and the ambien may help sleep.  Be very careful with it though.

What kind of pain do you have?  Have you tried NSAIDS and heat and ice?  You will be surprised how much 800mg of ibuprofen will help once you have detoxed off the big guns!  Your pain may be more tolerable also.

Good luck!  Congrats again on your clean time!
