Surgery tomorrow and question about methadone

I take Lortab 10/500's for chronic back pain. Well I am having surgery tomorrow for endometriosis and I ran out of pain killers yesterday. I had a 5mg methadone from a while back and I took it to help with the pain and to prevent withdrawals. I am now worried to death about this mixed with the anesthesia and the post op pain killers because I know that methadone has a very long half life. Do you guys think I will be ok?

THAT IS WHAT I SAID..EVEN IF IT WAS A 5MG..YOUR DR KNOWS YOUR HEALTH HISTORY..IT IS USED AS ANALGESIC.TOO!...YOU SHOULD BE FINE LET THEN KNOW!!!!! YOU ONLY TOOK ONE PILL DAYS BEFORE...

tell them at the hospital about your ddeependace let them make the call  also most anasesaloigist (sp) will talk to your b/4 surgery  speel it out to him  they will know what to do to keep you comforable.....good luck with your surgey................Gnarly

Try not to stress. You're going to be just fine. It's a very low dose for someone acclimated to opiates and by tomorrow you'll probably start to get ill anyway.Best of luck with your surgery! May we ask what you intend to do about your dependency post-op?

Hi..When I had my hysterectomy I was on a very, very high dose of methadone for many, many years. I even took the meds with me..Of course they took them and gave them back..He also prescribed perks for me on top of the methadone...Methadone is a  synthetic opiate..It is also used medically as a analgesic and used for other opiate dependency....I think you will be fine.Make sure you do tell the DR..Because of other medical issues..OK?
