How are you doing friend? Be sure to check back in with us and let us know. We are here for support and to help :-)
I really had a rough time with bathroom issues while on codeine. Make sure you get some imodium, especially if you're returning to work. The imodium did help. I found the detox wasn't as intense as percocets but it seemed to last longer.
Just my experience with it. You are probably over half way through the worst of it but keep posting for support and any questions you might have.
Thank you and I hope you have a blessed day. I'm going to send you a PM with cut and paste lines from my friend who is in the U.K. because she had problems finding some of the things that were suggested to her for W/D's. Hopefully that will help you out some :-)
Thank you , I aprreciate your help enjoy your day x
Last post...I have to go to work...a lot of people work during their detox...If I am counting right you go back to work either on day 5 or day 6...you should be good enough by then for work...you won't have a lot of energy but I think you'll be okay for work.
Thank you so much I really appreciate it , my last day of taking them was Saturday , I'm off work for a couple of days , but can't stay off that long - any idea how long I will feel like this ? . I will try the suggestions everyone gives me . I'm willing to try anything . Can't go back on them , totally ruined the last few years off my life
Hi and welcome to our forum
I have an allergy to codeine so never took it. I did just work with a lovely woman who detoxed off of the codeine tabs she was taking.
I'm just going to relay to you what she said worked for her. She did a taper over a week (I don't know how many or what and we can't advise on that so work with your doctor for a taper if you go that route).
She said the protein shakes, the amino acids and the tonic water with quinine, hot baths with epsom salts are what helped her the most. Keep in mind though that each person is different...sometimes it is trial and error to find what works best....each person who has experience with your DOC will give you advice as to what worked for them...listen to them and give their advice a try because what might work for someone who is detoxing from methadone won't work for someone detoxing from codeine.
I wish you the best of luck and please post here a lot. If we don't know what is going on we can't help you so please tell us your symptoms, how you are feeling, etc so you can get the benefit of the wisdom a lot of our "old-timers" can give you.
Feel free to contact me any time if you just want to chat, gripe, etc....we all had and still have bad days...that's one way I can help you. I have a sympathetic, non-judgemental ear so am willing to lend it to you :-)
Hugz
Lots of people in here have experience with subs. If you need some help or advice click the post a question on the top of the page. You'll get some responses throughout the day!
Im 47, have chronic fatigue syndrome and a heart condition . In pain everyday - but I know I was starting to have a problem with co c , when I started taking them every 2, hours up to 10-12 a day . Now I know I don't get the same relief . I ran out and doc says not due anymore till next week , have them on repeat , I have managed to keep getting them early by asking different docs - now I had none so I bought over the counter ones , husband noticed and it all came out . He is really supportive , I'm suffering with going to loo all the time , can't sleep , feeling sick, legs won't stop twitching and ache like mad .
Hey i know this isnt on subject but do either of you have expeirence with suboxone or subutex?
How long has it been since your last one?
Get some imodium, gatorade, protein shakes, toast, bananas, good multi vitamin. I recently came off of them and while I was used to withdrawing from percocet, I found the codeine withdrawal pretty rough as well.
It is different for everyone and I am older and have been using pills for a long time.
The bathroom issues were pretty intense for me so if you are having the same, make sure you are drinking a TON of fluids. I took potassium pills as well just to be safe.
Tell us a little more about your symptoms so we can help you with each one.
A few things you have to keep in mind...you can't rush this process, you have to be okay with not being okay for a little while and time and patience are key words (that all we addicts hate) but it is true...even after your detox is over you still won't feel 100% which is why aftercare is so very, very important.
While we try to help you here with your symptoms, etc you could do something to kick-start the aftercare process. You can look for NA online meetings or Google Online Substance Abuse Aftercare Meetings. There are several available online...that way you can get support here AND kick-start your aftercare regime. If you aren't sure or get confused...try to find Gnarly (Mark) who has tons of experience with Aftercare or another long-timer.
