Cocaine Binge

Hey all, I'm in the midst of a cocaine binge and I know I need to stop. Right now I've done close to an 8ball every day for the past few days and before would go through that much in a few days tops. I know what I'm doing is causing more harm than the high is worth. Is the amount I'm doing putting me at risks for the more serious side effects earlier than most? I get the mucus build up and runny nose a lot as well as the bloody snot and crust. What can I do to help stop these symptoms and how long will they last?
I'm very ashamed of what I'm doing and worry constantly that my runny nose will give it away. I know my first action is to stop which I am making the choice to do so. Now what do I do about the damage and side effects I've caused?

Im glad u have decided2quit.Coke is so tough2quit.Its pretty much all a mental battle(although u already know the physical repercussions).i havent heard of many meds2quit cocaine because Its not looked at as a physically addictive drug.I do know that benzos help w/the initial w/d because they calm down the jitters+help w/sleep but thats really dangerous because ur doing a lot and mixing them can b fatal if ur not careful,if u take benzos then continue using coke. The great thing about quitting though is ur nose will repair itself big time.the running+bleeding will start2heal fasy but u will have bad congestion for a couple days. What u need is some good sleep.I know Its tough but u need it.these r typical+regular w/d symptoms.Ur headaches sounds like a severe sinus headache.VERY NORMAL needs time to get all that crappy stuff out.of course ur body hurts+ur weak.U need tissues w/lotion for when it starts running, maybe otc sleep aid ONLY IF U R HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING.Also stay hydrated..I know u can stop BUT u need to get help to not relapse.Coke is SO tough mentally no matter now much u WANNA stay clean.Ive seen it 1st hand.If it werent for NA+other support he would still b using (also I went2alanon myself) because feeling crappy the next day, depressed,SEVERE(I mean the WORST Ive ever seen)mood swings days after, not paying bills, sneaking around, having his1st child on the way THAT DIDNT MAKE HIM STOP.He rationalized all the reasons why it was ok.This is one of those drugs that @call u",sneak up when ur not expecting.

Hi,It may not be as easy,as deciding you will stop tomarrow. If we could stop when we Please,it wouldnt be called an addiction.Cocaine doesant allow its users to control the drug.Your brain is under the influence of the strongest drug made, except and including methamphetamine.Think seriously about inpatient detox, and from there decide if you require an inpatient 3-month program.I know as im a recovering Crack addict. All the best John

Stroke is a risk you take along with cardiac arrest...I'm not trying to scare you but that's a lot of coke everyday!!   Get your b/p and heart rate checked. Take an aspirin...seriously. Don't DO anymore coke!!   At the rate you're going...your nose is the least of your troubles!

Paranoia is common. See a doctor. They won't arrest you!  Really, there are quite a few meds you can be prescribed at this point...

Don't let the next doctor visit be in the ER!  I've seen this sort of thing and it's not pretty!

Call someone you trust so you're not alone!

I doubt you are having a stroke hun but if you think so, get to the er right away. It is normal to be tired, often exhausted, for a few days during Cocaine withdrawal. Your body is trying to stabilize so you will need to give that a few days.

I hope this was a wake up call for you and you DO follow through and get some help to stay clean.

Thank you for the support. I really need it right now and words of encouragement are helping. I have a question about usage and risks of having a stroke. Today I'm extremely weak, my whole body hurts and so does my head. Could that be signs of a stroke or is it typical of withdraw from suddenly stopping?

Hey there...glad to hear you're thinking of talking to a doctor. I'm not quite sure what they would give you. The physical w/d's won't be as bad as the mental ones. Like I said, runny nose, diarhhea, etc. for a couple days. Any good doctor isn't going to judge you. Get to a meeting, get a sponsor, and stop using. You CAN do this. Always here for you~Anne

You have a good plan on getting to those meetings and getting a sponsor.  Once we get honest with ourselves and others recovery can start.  Changing our playmates and playground is another thing you will have to do.  Surround yourself with supportive people.  The longer you use the more damage you will do.  You can stop this and get your life back~~~sara

What can a Dr do for withdraws? I'm so paranoid about telling anyone esp a Dr. I don't want to be labeled as an addict in the medical field. what kinds of medications can they give you to help? Hopefully non addictive?
I don't want to end up with brain damage, I'm trying to slow down my usuage. I woke up this morning with my entire body sore and aching from using yesturday, is this something that I will continue to feel as I come off the drug?

Thank you Tomskat for the reply. I plan on quitting tomorrow. I used today but told myself no more after this. I've looked up NA and CA groups in my area and am going to plan on getting a sponsor as soon as I can. I know it's not going to be easy, I'm already dreading it. I'm really paranoid about the side effects and them exposing my addiction. But maybe that is what I need. How long did your nose run for?

Cocaine will cause you problems when you sniff this drug you are doing damage to your respiratory system.  It will also cause brain damage I no a few guys that over dosed They both are in Institutions suffering brain damage.  If you are using as much as you say you are you could be next.   See a Doc. tell him whats going on and he may be able to help you with the withdrawals from cocaine.  You will need help go to NA when you get time they will help.  You will benefit if you go on to treatment for drugs. I went to 2 different treatment centers and one hafe way house. But after the second treatment center I was ready to try a new way thats AA and NA keep posting someone will help you.

Hi there. Coke was my d.o.c. also. The runny nose may last for quite awhile;the blood should stop as soon as you stop. When do you plan on quitting?Unfortunately, short of plastic surgery there is nothing that will repair nasal passages. Try a pure saline mist to help cleanse from the "crust",etc.I also recommend attending either an NA or CA meeting asap...you need additional support right now. Stay on this site and post when ypou crave. I understand what you're going through....I went through it myself.PM me anytime...it will get better, but you need to want to quit.Good luck, stay strong and keep your guard up!!~A

I'm sorry I don't have any advice about this except that have you thought about coming clean to your primary doctor? I know it can be scary but they see and hear this a lot more than you think. He can possibly prescribe things to help you get off the cocaine and to help your nasal passages. At the very least maybe you can make an out patient appointment with an addiction therapist who can help some.

Here is the web MD page on cocaine usage. Maybe you can look through it.
