Day 7!!!

I can't believe it's day 7 already! It's weird, on one hand I feel like Day 1 was just yesterday but on the other it feels so long ago!  It's cleaning day today, but I'm going to take it slow and easy and listen to my body. The last thing I want is to flare up my back pain and have to suffer through it. I've done yoga for years and can meditate a lot of the pain away, but when it gets so bad that it gives out and I collapse, I've historically gone to the pain medicine because "that's what it's for."  Not anymore! I really hope my pain mgmt doc & psychologist give me more coping methods. Anyone else have debilitating chronic pain? What are things you do to manage without meds?

Nellie1919 day 7!!! Yahoo!! That's awesome!! And yes once you get past them gosh awful I think I'm going to die days, the time does speed up some. I'm so sorry about your pain though...but this makes you even stronger than the Regular addict you know,it's not just your mind suffering you have legitimate pain to live through. You're a strong women...and leave the house work. I've learned it's not going anywhere. It will be there when you're able to do it. Much love,Krissy xox

Luvdolphin - it's like I knew what you were going to say! Just yesterday I was talking with mom-in-law and said "next week when I'm feeling better we should start going back to water aerobics." We were going to a class or 2 a week over the summer, and only stopped because life got in the way (new house, new puppy). I remember feeling so good and energized, even more so than after a long power walk. I'll let you know how it feels now that I'll be doing it without the pills - hopefully it will get my natural endorphins going enough to keep the blues away (aka the next phase of withdrawal)!

Congratulations 7 days big accomplishments! !!  I suffer from chronic pain too.  The best natural thing i do is water aerobics. Helps no doesn't take all pain away but really helps physically and mentally.

I'm so zapped of energy today! It doesn't help that it's gray and cloudy outside. I'm going to force myself to going shopping for Christmas presents for nieces/nephews this afternoon just to get out of the house for a while. Or...I may just take a nap.  Regardless of what I do, I'm doing it without pills!

My doctor said that surgery for my back would more than likely cause more damage than good. I do get steroid injections yearly to help the flares which helps tremendously but they are not a cure-all or even permanent. The part that frustrates me is one day I can dust/vacuum/clean the tub and not have any issues but a different day that will have me crumpled on the floor writhing in pain! I just need to learn to cope with the pain without the pills.

Hi honey, and congrats on the 7 days...you are doing GREAT!

I too, have horrible pain issues.  I'm coping by exercising more, taking Advil and RESTING.   I'm not doing as much around the house, and you know what?  I don't care.

I'm sorry if this was asked before, but can your pain be alleviated with surgery?
