Day 8 off Methadone.

I thought I was was doing well but have to say last night was sheer HELL. The insomnia hit me full force straight in my face and I couldn't sleep a wink. Anxiousness, agitation higher blood pressure and higher pulse. I feel exhausted physically, mentally and emotionally yet at the same time wide awake. I don't know if I can do this if I don't begin to get some sleep. I havent had any of the leg or body aches pains so I'm thankful for that but I've noticed every day I've slept less and less each night. I ended up taking an Endocet last night and it seemed to calm me down a little which was probably a bad idea. I came REALLY close to using Methadone last night. I think it would be easier for me if I knew how long this was going to last. I am still determnined to kick this POISON but really felt helpless and hopeless last night. I am already getting anxious about tonight.

day 8 good for you!!! I know it is so hard.  And to be honest my withdrawls from methadone hit full force at day 9 or 10.  but by the beginning of the 3rd week they started subsiding.  Methadone withdrawls are the worst becase u don't really get better from day to day...it's more like every 2 or 3 days you'll notice a difference....and although it's minimal....it's a light at the end of the tunnel.  And it IS doable...i remember laying awake at night and moving around CONSTANTLY ....it drove me crazy...but once i got through it i was soo glad i'd done it.  and you are just about half way through your withrawls. i took percs here and there when i felt like i couldn't take it anymore as well to help me through it.  and it didn't seem to make much of a difference but i only took about a total of 10 during my month of withdrawls.  if you can stand it, don't take them.  keep posting because it does help. and were all here rooting for u.

I promise it will get better, its hard to say when because everyone is so different, but you can get through this. Im not sure if it would help but have you tried clonidine, maybe some melatonin or l-tryptophan for sleep. I took 3-5mgs of melatonin at night and it would allow me to get a few hrs of sleep. The clonidine can help with your blood pressure and the overall jitters. The one other thing is excercise, I know thats probably the last thing you want to do, but even a brisk walk can help calm you down. If you still have methadone left I have to say it would be best to get rid of them, having them there as a constant temptation is not helping matters. You gotta keep fighting, you'll be so proud of yourself when you get though this. Stay positive, I wish you the best of luck!!!
