I am new to the board.  Been taking hydrocodone for 1 month 5/500mg 4x a day.
I will be ending soon.  I am scared what to expect.  I don't know if I will be able to function
without it.  I know if I don't take them..I have crying spells, fear, anxiety.
I feel like I can't do my job.  I am irrated moody...hate loud noises.
I really don't think I can do this.  Can someone help me?

Hi intervention..  welcome to the forum.. Please do no be scared.. you are on a low does and for a short while.. I understand the moods and being real sensitive during this time.. There are things you can get that will help with the anxiety.. it is called Valerian Root they really help in calming.. also for sleep you can pick up Melatonin 5mg. it should help you to get a lil sleep.. and if you have aches.. Advil works well.. also I do not think you will have this symptom but it is good to be prepared :) Hyland restless legs will help IF your legs feel jumpy.. These OTC product will give you all you need to stop these pills....also hot baths as many as make you comfortable.. as suggested above if you can taper then by all means.. but when you do go through wd it really will not be so very horrible.. Keep posting for support and I wish you well on your recovery..

Hi and welcome to the forum. Yes you can do this!! I did. There are articles under health pages in the upper right of the forum. Read Thomas Recipe and it will give you some great advise to help with withdrawl. Also read PAWS 1 and it will help you understand about addiction and what to expect. Can you take off work for a few days? You will have flu like symptoms for 4-7 days with day 4 being a turning point for many. Others will be here everyday to help pull you through(weekends are slower here than weekdays). Try to get through the physical part and if possible try to make that your main focus.Your symptoms will probably not be as strong as you have only been on them for a short time. You are right to be scared. Your are playing with fiire, Get off them now and don't look back. Read some of the posts here and all of the stories of wasting 7 yeras of life. Don't let this happen to you. Can you get something for your anxiety? Please stop using these thing NOW. I am here to help you anyway I can. Corey

With the dose, strength, and length you have been on, you are primarily dealing with the mental aspect of going off of the meds.
You should not expect to suffer any kind of hardcore withdrawl symptoms when you go off.
To lessen the w/d symptoms you may have (which wont be too bad), you can start substituting a pill a day for a tylenol for 3 days, then substitute 2 pills for 2 hydros for 3 days, then 3 pills, etc....
That will help with the mental part as well, because you will still be taking pills.
Try NOT TO WORRY SO MUCH because this WILL DEFINITLY make going off of the pills so much worse.
I think you are worrying yourself into "freak out" mode lol, If that makes sense!
You will be ok!!!
Good luck w/everything!
