Day One and ALREADY failing

Well, I am on day one of vicodin withrawal and I just took ONE.  Dang it!  This SUCKS!  Why can't I be strong?  I don't want to be addicted to this drug anymore.  The shakey feeling and temp. changes just got to me.  I want to be done with this by this week.  I went and bought imodium, took two of those, but all the other symtoms just drive me crazy.  I can't tell my doctor because they are strict about giving anymore, because I took mine too fast.  Otherwise, I would ask for a taper regimen, don't know if I could be strong enough to handle that resposiblility either.  How did I ever let this get so bad and out of control?  I just don't want to think about it anymore.  Can't they just admit us to a hospital and sedate us until the withrawal is over.  Sorry for the rambling, just trying to see if talking about it helps.  I haven't told anyone about my withdrawal yet, and really don't want to.  Any advice here is greatly appreciated!

Suffering,

I understand the degree of difficulty you are experiencing, but fearing and dreading your wd symptoms just makes them more intense.  By understanding what your body is going through to rid itself of the pills...it makes it easier to embrace the symptoms and even appreciate them for what they are...necessary to get past this.
Best of luck...continue posting, this forum helps alot.

hi so i am going on day 2 of vicodin withdrawls and i get the same temperature problem and the shaking and all that. I spoke with several doctors and they gave me some xanax. now dont get me wrong, this can be a bad drug to take too, but if you explain the situation they may give you just enough for  a week to get past the worst part. it helps enormously with the physiological part of the withdrawal and helps you fall asleep too. Also take a ton of vitamins. If you get the restless leg thing then bengay helps a bunch (smells gross, but works). I know the hardest part is the anxiety so ask for help from a doctor and if you are completely honest they are generally willing to help. hope this helps, good luck!

I started my detox on friday and its been tough. I tried to go cold turkey and it was a disaster. Since saturday, I been tapering. Its a lot easier, still tough, but easier. I break my pills in half and try to go as long as I can between doses. I cant handle the wd's either, but dont beat urself up over it. Just keep trying. You can do it. As far as the hospital, yeah I gave up, and thats where I'm going. Maybe you should tell your doc if you really want to quit. That will take away some of your access and he can help you. Good luck and hang in there. I will keep you in my prayers.

I agree with toxitome. I would flush them and just get it over with. You can say you have the flu, believe me its going around. You can do this, just let us know what you want to do so we can help.

oh it does suck and I know my limitations so that is why I used all I had on the ride home day before yesterday. If I have it I use it. That is my reality.

It sucks, it definitely does babe.  I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly, but unfortunately, it's what it takes to get to the other side.  Knowing what to expect can help.  Also, knowing it can be done, and it can, can help.  How can I help you?

You can do this, there is a lot of support here and great tips on how to ease the withdrawals and do not think you have failed, like I said, you only fail if you stop trying. Hang in there, and being here reading and getting support helps so much. Best of luck to you.

You can do this. You have to set your mind to it, do you have the vitamins and Amino's to help get you through it??
