Hi Swash & welcome.  You will get some great advice & more importantly support from this site.  Everyone has a unique story as how we got to this situation.  Your sounds like mine..i played D1 football & baseball & after 18+ surgeries (at 42) i said F'it, i'm tired of the constant pain especially in my back.

I took a 2 year trip with these things & it although the pain was gone & no colds, flue etc. i wasnt me.

The 1st few days are rough but you can do it.  I'm on day 8 & feel i've turned a corner this morning.  The mental aspects will linger longer but the physicals go away soon (if you were only a year - I was on same 10/325 for two years)

I was an idiot.  I went through a lot of surgeries from 19-35 & never got hooked.  Then my back went again....I never say never but this is something i cannot do it again.

Again keep up the fight & keep checking in.

Are you still here?  Just wanted to check on you.  The first 3-5 days are the worst physically.  The physical stuff is much easier than the mental and I know that's tough to hear.  Please keep posting and let us know if you need anything.  You are def in my prayers.

When you say taking them makes you and your back feel better, your giving away the addiction. If you were taking them strictly for pain, the "I" wouldn't enter the equation.  Admit that part first and then keep moving forward.  I had been on Oxyne-(the old and new type) for about 15 years. I jumped too low in the weaning process and have had a cpl. rough weeks since our Canadian Thanksgiving. BUT I'M DONE with the drugs ( flushed the 3/4 bottle of pills). Use any sort of  achievement is a struggle. Discuss it with your Doc and get assistance from that source.
You can make this happen.
Kbusymom suggests the Emergen C vitC and etc. powders and it is excellent. I have felt more energized since starting that a cpl days ago. I found them less expensive in our local Walmart.
Good luck!

I tried tapering and it only made the WD process worse for me.  It seemed to drag out the sick time.  Read the Thomas recipe on here.  I've found ibuprofen, Imodium, Benadryl, and packets of EmergenC  (vit c) to be helpful.  WD is a crappy process, but there's no getting around it.  Try to keep your mind busy, watch some movies, whatever it takes.
Have you cut your sources?  That is so important.  NA/AA meetings are great too.
Welcome to this site; everyone is awesome- full of support, kind words, and great suggestions.  We all understand what you're going through.  Keep posting and sharing, we are here for you.  Congratulations on starting your journey towards recovery.

The only thing I can say is...do not take any once you stop, if you don't use to a few days, and then you even take a little bit, you go back to day one.

If you make it to day 10, it's find to keep the date of when you stopped...but I would quit counting days after that, because it's not doing you any good to have the constant worry "I'm only ___ many days clean..."

If you have pain in your back, I suggest stocking up on Icy Hot patches, my WDs were 90% back pain, lower back pain...right where your butt meets your back, and it's very hard to deal with. Icy hot patches help a great deal.

I would also suggest you take a B vitamin, because opiates soak up a lot of your B vitamins, as well as stocking up on Omega 3, fish oil, or flaxseed oil...I prefer Flaxseed..it's more potent, take it pretty often, 2-6 of them per day. Buy a bottle of Advil PM to help yourself sleep for a few days.

Have a lot of mental toughness, no one can help you but you, you won't make it unless you want to. It's not going to be as terrifying as it seems. It *****, and it hurts, but everyones experience is different, so don't let people convince you that it's literally going to be Hell. Keep your mind off it, drink lots of water, and try your best to get up and move around...in about a week you should start to feel a lot of progress, however you can still have some physical pain...I had back pain for about 2 months.
