PAWS Question

Hi Everyone,
So I dont want to be in denial so I am trying to prepare myself for these. Will I get them? Do I have them now? How long does this last? I am super anxious (way more anxious then normal) woke up today having painc attacks :( with no enegery and feeling kinda blah emotionally. I have no bad past that I have to face (thank God). I simply used for fun and then it spiraled out of control. I was not abused, raped and anything like that, Not sure if that matters. I actually have a great life and should be happy for it!
I am trying to figure out what to expect from PAWS. I just want to be prepared.

You are inviting trouble before your detox is over. Ver, very, very few people get PAWS. In fact, I never meat someone who was diagnosed with it from an actual professional.

Keep moving forward and don't worry about what will happen in the future. Especially about something that will probably not happen. Stay in today.

Oh Hun!! Just slow down and take a deep breath..PAWS can be so overated on here. You only have a little over 2 weeks right?? You are still detoxing the poisons out..After we physically get to feeling better then our brains have to re-adjust back from the removal of these stims. After we remove these substances it affects the emotional/biochemical balance that has been established..The person has to readjust back to living without these Stims..Sometimes people can experience a emotional and physiological aspects..
I used to think of this alot about 16 months ago, but now I came to the conclusion that it is all part of recovery..For some of us that have used for many, many years are bound to have some physiological changes because we are not used to dealing with life on its own terms. We always ran away to our substances when life got a bit to much to handle..Even as far as wanting to get wired up and work are ash off...This is what takes TIME to fire-back up right. Especially if you were a long time user and a heavy one..I was told it could take me a year or two to balance back all those chems, receptors, transmitters, lots of wiring...WELL I turned the best corner ever Mentally in my year..It is all about LIFE and how you are going to deal with it clean & sober...Please just let it go and just ride with the wave..You might not ever feel anything but a physically and a small mental waves for such a short time,,Just be as happy as you can be and do not that that THANKING get you back to using..The Pleasure part of the brain just Loves that Pleasure and nothing else will matter..Keep you Armour on against this disease at all times. JUST MOVE FORWARD & DO NOT THINK ABOUT THIS OR THAT..YOU WILL BE FINE!!! Live life at the fullest and do make sure You have some Support in all areas of your Life. Life will throw you some curve Balls as Big as Mountains, so make sure you have alot of Support for many reasons..I wish you the best..
Bless

You know, I have read so much on PAWS, and its all over the place when it starts. Some say right after the physical stuff goes, and others say later down the line.
whatever it is, without a label, lets just say that you will be feeling some symptoms, and it will be ok, you will ride them out.
I am living proof
:o)
oh yeah, and speaking of music, I found that Enya really helped, and I also used some spiritual healing CD's. One was called "Crystal Voices"
GOod luck in this!

Lily

Hey Hun at 14 days you are still detoxing. Remind me but you were on methadone correct?
It is not paws. It takes a good year to heal from opiates. Methadone could take longer.
Keep moving forward, healthy eating, exercise, attending church.
You are doing awesome.
Listen to some Christian music and get yourself busy.

Hey Friend,
Congrats!! you are doing so awesome! You should be proud of you!
As far as paws, I was hit with paws bad, and it was a cakewalk compared to what I went through in the beginning.
I have 4 more months until my second year clean anniversary, and paws is a thing of the past. The last of it I saw a couple of months ago. If you just tell yourself that it is paws, and it will end, you will get over it. My mind wanted me to think that it was "brain damage" and that I would never be 100 percent again, but thankfully, that was just mind tricks. and it was paws, and its over, and I am thankful. The worst of it is like what you said, the anxiety, and some blah feeling. The anxiety is rough, but during paws its not constant, it comes and goes, and so just ride it out. I noticed I would get like maybe 5 days of on and off anxiety, then some days without, then back on again. I kept telling myself I would be free soon, and I now am! I just kept telling myself that it takes a full two years to feel 100 percent, and to allow it to come, and well, its here.
So just look out for some residual anxiety, nothing horrible, and know it will leave, it is not permanent damage, it will leave.
hugs,
Lily

How many days clean do you have?? I don't think it is PAWS. I learned a few things about the PAWS from the old timers :) It's probably your body still adjusting.. Takes awhile to fully detox and even out.. It will level out tho.
