Desperate for HELP

OK. I have been clean fron Vicodin for 6 weeks ( after a 3 day stay in a detox). At my worst I was taking 15-20 750's a day. I have felt great for 5 weeks. For the first 2 weeks I was on suboxone but was weened off 2 weeks ago. all of a sudden 4 days ago I started to have the "Ancy legs and arms" It is seriously driving me crazy. I have tried stretching, hot baths. Can this still be connected to the withdrawl. I'm not taking Cymbalta on my 3rd day and Xanax but Im getting very little relief. If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

I just read this and thought surely they meant they are taking the cymbalta & xanax..LOL

From what I've read hot baths and brisk walks to tire out your legs help. If you will check out the health pages to the right of the screen there is lots of information in there that can help you. There is an amino acid protocol and it may list some OTC or herbal remedies. Also, could you ask your doctor to give you something for it? It could be that you have just developed the RLS now.

Sorry I wasn't a lot of help...wish I had a better answer but I did not have RLS .. just a tiny bit...but that was it. Others will be along w/more advice soon!

Keep up the good work and congratulations on 6 weeks..that is wonderful!

Hi there.  Congrats on being clean.  In my personal experience (that I am going through right now) the RLS is DEFINITELY from the suboxone withdrawal.  Unfortunately my suboxone withdrawal is worse than the oxy withdrawal I would have gone through.  RLS, achy, etc.  All the normal withdrawal symptoms.  I have not had RLS in the past and I will give you a tiny bit of GOOD news - the RLS has definitely stopped.  My last sub was 9 days ago.  The worst days with the RLS were day 5 and 6, but I am good now.  Still in withdrawal, but that symptom has subsided.  Hot showers are a lifesaver.  Also try putting a heating blanked across your legs.  Unfortunately none of it works that well.  The only thing that is going to help is time and faith.  I wish you all the luck and you can get through it.  People on here have been soo helpful to me the last two days (im new on here) so make some friends and youll soon learn your not alone and you can do this.

Good luck and peace!

I made a typo in my original post. I AM currently taking Cymbalta and Xanax for the ancy legs and arms. If anyone has any ideas please share them. This isnt just at night but it goes on all day. I am feeling desperate because I feel like this is hurting my life right now more than the 20 vicodin es I was taking a day.

Some people have RLS for no reason at all, or develop it at any time in life.

I am one of those lucky ones, and have Kolinipin for that.  It makes me sleepy, and that's a good thing because they usually attack me at night.

Talk to a doctor.  RLS is hell.........get some relief.

BTW, I had RLS before my addiction...........I just didn't know what it was.  I just though the "crazy" was haunting me every now and then.

Seems odd it would start now. My son ended up with a diagnosis of RLS shortly after detox from 4 years of heroin addiction. He has been clean for over 3 years and still has it. The perscription he gets only works for a week or so then stops so he quits taking it for awhile. He says exercise really helps. Sometimes he has to get up in the middle of the night an do squats to get tired. He says that over the counter cold meds and things like tylenol PM make it worse. He also won't take any benzo's bc he says they make his worse. Hopefully it will only be temporary for you. Corey

That can definitely still be the "residual withdrawals" as I call them.  I'm not sure what the proper terminology is, but it's common to continue to feel wds after the acute stage is over.  I'm not sure exactly what to do for the restless legs so all I can say is hang in there, you're not alone & you can get thru it!!  Good luck!
