Does it get better?

Hello all! My name is Katey and I am 20 years old. I have been addicted to pills for almost 2 years now and due to financial reasons I decided to finally quit 4 days ago. I am feeling alright just a little depressed every now and then. I guess my question is, when will I feel like I did before I ever started pills?

Hey, I totally agree with Dave1963, Those are all things that I did... And hes right about the message board! I would have relapsed by now, if it wasnt for this board! You are doing the right thing, what has helped me is, going on a morning walk and then grabbing a cup of coffee, cig, and doing some morning mediation! I know it sounds silly but I usually just say 10 positive things about myself and about what I want my day to come of! Or try writing about it!!! I have starting on a diet as well! Good luck, were all here for you! And routing for you <3 Jess

Thankyou Dave and yes I have had some sleep issues....i sleep alright til about 4 or 5 AM then i toss and turn because I can't get comfortable but it's a small price to pay for not being on pills anymore. Pills always made me want to eat a lot and even though i'm only 145 pounds standing at a height of 5'9 being on a diet definitely HELPS. I'm hoping I get addicted to exercising and dieting to replace the addiction I had for pills lol. Thanks again everyone!

Hi Katey :)  It definately gets better.  I'm on day 4 and I can say I feel pretty good.  Most here say after days 4-5 you will start felling better.  Lots of water and getting outside helped me the most.  I love music, so listen to my favorite music, the music I used to listen to before the drugs, helps me a lot.  I'm not sure if you're having sleep issues, but what helped me was a low dose muscle relaxer for the RLS (Zanaflex .5mg), melatonin and 2 advil PM.  Honestly, what helped me the most, THIS FORUM !!!!!  The people here are truly a blessing.  To come to a place like this and not be judged is awesome.  All of the advice and support is over whelming, in a great way!!!!  Katey, stay strong, stay focused and you will get through it.  If you need anything we are all here for you.  God Bless <3 Dave

Thankyou both! and yes the first reason i started to quit was because of financial reasons but after going through all those horrible w/ds i would NEVER do pills again they are not worth it. I do feel a lot better today and have been keeping busy every day so far to keep my mind off things and just started a diet.

When will you feel like before?  You probally already are a little bit, you just dont remember how you felt before them little demons.  You sound like you are doing very good.  I hope you are not quitting just because of financial reasons.  I hope you are doing this because you really want to be free of them pills.  What would happen if you won the lottery next week?  Would you go back to using cause you could afford them again?  You have to want to quit to make it work.  Good Luck. Stay Focused!
