Quit Oxycodone Cold Turkey, Looking for Relief.

Hey all..I was in a terrible car accident back in 2005 where I should have died. A drunk driver hit me and sent my SUV on a ride, flipping and skidding along the highway. Luckily I am here to speak about it, however now I am faced with a huge problem. I have a few injuries from the accident, the biggest being in my neck, shoulders and back. Creeped up on me in the last 2 years..so a year ago I went to my doctor about it when it became unbearable..She put me on Percocet, very low dose, and I took it the correct way, small amount, as needed for pain. Then I was sent to a pain management place and my dosage was increased..shortly thereafter, I went through a terrible breakup and I became so depressed that the pills became my comfort and I took more than I should. I ran out early every month and struggled those last few days before my doc appointment. I even went as far as going in for my appointment earlier and asking for an increase or decrease (that way the pharmacy would fill it earlier), but I still didn't think I had a problem. Recently is when I realized that I am really addicted to these pills, and it's beyond just for the pain now. I have a child, a disabled mother, and a new wonderful boyfriend, all of whom give me inspiration to stop taking these pills. So I have been taking less the past few days and today (1/28/10) is the very first day Oxy free..It is a lot tougher than I thought it would be..the muscle aches and pains, the chills, the diarreah, the stomach pain, the headache and most of all the mental aspect..I just keep crying here and there, but I know this is the right thing to do and I am not backing down. Can anyone suggest any over the counter help for this? I have been using biofreeze for the muscle aches and my doctor prescribed an NSAID to help with inflammation. I would appreciate any replies, thanks so much =)

Check out the Thomas recipe here. It does help a bit.  I'm on day 5. For me day 2-4 were the hardest. Today it seems much better. Rough this morning but not so bad now. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. For me hot baths, sleep (do get something to calm you from the doctor) and try to get out even for an hour here and there for fresh air and get your mind off it. Load up and take your vitamins and drinks lots of water. Keep your determination even when you think you just can't stand to anymore. You'll do it and it will be worth it. I'm only day 5 and already feeling a little better then I have in days just in the last few hours. Hang in there!

I'm almost in the same exact situation you are except I'm 53 and I wonder if it's harder for us old folks. I look at it this way that each hour brings you closer to feeling better. It's good for you that you have a new boyfriend and support. The only support I have are my 2 cats and they do help but they not real good at making soup or bringing me something to drink but they do make me smile and keep me warm.
