Friend is popping various pills

I'm in my  mid 30's, and a new friend that I met several months ago is always sneaking off to pop various pills - mostly she's got Adderall, Xanax, Alprazolam, Suboxone 8mg, lexapro, roxicet, and a few others that aren't in any packaging.

What would be signs of abuse?  Sometimes she seems very out of it altogether, and it can take her a long time to put her thoughts together & spit the words out, and other times she acts very normal.

I've never *done* anything other than pot, so as naive as it sounds, I didn't really even consider that people were getting high off of pills...

Georgina.

if she is taking all of those at once, then she IS abusing~i'm sure she doesn't have a script for all of those does she?  So if she is using them without a dr's prescription-it is abuse.

Honestly if your friend has access to all of those pills and is popping all different kinds in a day she probably has a problem. I am currently going through my withdrawals from roxicets right now and it is not pleasent at all. I would suggest trying to find out how many she is taking in a day and how often, then try to find her help because trying to stop all of those drugs at once is going to be near impossible. You need to try and get help asap!

Welcome to the forum. You might want to post this over on the Substance Abuse Addiction Community. http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Addiction/wwwboard.html

Your first paragraph answers your question about abuse. she is playing with dangerous meds. Especially if she is drinking.
