Getting of Oxycodone

I have been taking pain medication for about two years and two months. I  have been on 150 oxycodon 15mg for a year and two months. I hate that I am so addicted to them, and I want to get off them or at least l lower my dose again. I don't know what I would do for pain though because I am taking them for fibromyiliga,10 bulged disc, interstitial cystitis and I am only 20 with a two year old. I know what the withdrawls feel like and I know how horrible they are. But i know what my life is like without them, and i miss my life with out them. So my question is would it be better to cut cold turkey, or to cut back slowly? which one is easier? i have help with my daughter for the next 3 days and I think I can get a sitter for two days after that so i would have help for 5 days. Is that long enough? what can i take to help make it easier? PLEASE HELP! and advice will be helpful! thank you!

just wanted to mention ...a long hot bath goes a long way in helping with withdrawal symptoms you may need to take several a day for the next few days...I found this to be the best overall therapy.......Gnarly

HI Amber welcome to the forum...you have come to a great place to get help doing this
as for a time line its different for everyone but typically it last around 4or5 days with day 3 and 4 being the tuffest ...look on the lower right hand side of the screen ...theirs something called the thomas recipe...it has some stuff in it that will make this a little more bearable ...try not to let fear into the equation it only makes it worst and its always worst in our minds then it actually is...go into this with a win win attitude when your thew with it you wont be chained to a pill bottle any more...remember this is only temporary and you will get thew it...right now get comfortable with the saying..."you just got to be ok without being ok for a wile" this is uncomfortable but very doable this is 1/3 physical and 2/3 mental ..so its a battle one or lost in ones own mind..thats why attitude is so important...YOU CAN DO THIS and you will get plenty of  support here so keep posting with your progress and will help walk you thew the next few days
good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

I quit cold turkey. I was on 300mg+/day and went to treatment. It can be done, with or without treatment, and since you are only 20, (I am 23) you may be like me and not have the horrible withdrawal that some people experience.

Tapering is really hard for addicts, we tend to want to take more than we should, as usual lol. Good luck with whatever you choose, but be sure to get some aftercare, as this will help with all aspects of withdrawal.
