Hi, how are you today? I'm new to this site, had a hard time getting back here, but haven't stopped thinking about you.
How is it going? You said you want someone to talk to, I'm here all day if you feel like it. Been there, done that, if it helps! ❤️Kathy

I will try to find someone. My only problem is I won't be able to bring my power wheelchair and they would have to bring my manual chair and push me. I get nervous being so vulnerable without my power chair

Seems I get maybe 3 hours a day where I feel better. Usually after 3 pm. Now it's 6:30 pm and the anxiety is overwhelming. I am trying so hard. I keep saying to my self next week will be a bit better but I don't know if that is true I hate feeling this way.

Thank you so much, it's exactly how I feel. The anxiety the chest pounding . I stopped methadone at about 12mg on sept 2.  I kept thinking I am insane. This is such mental devastation. I am not me I can't feel my feelings. Ty for sharing your experience with me. Please keep me up to date on how your doing.

I'm on day 29 off Methadone and I promise you...it DOES get better. I know it doesn't seem like it at the moment (I know, I was where you are just 3 short weeks ago), but it does. It's worth it. Soon every day will start getting a little better. Hang in there and take it hour by hour, and you will be at 20 days, 30 days and 60 days before you know it. Congrats on 9 days!!

Can you swim with your condition, or tread water, even wave your arms an legs around to get your blood flowing? We have a gym in our little town where many retired and various kinds of recovering people go for water physical therapy, they even have transport for those who qualify. Besides the exercise, i found I have had many conversations to distract me from my own issues. I was too sick the first few weeks, but it sure helped talking to people who had worse issues than me, like an 89 year old man who tells me stories of when he could still walk and how he copes with his limitations now. Your mental fog will clear up before too long and you will be able to get out and do things, though it may be difficult at first, you will be able to do more. If you would like to private message me, I would gladly chat with you. I truly get how hard this can be. I am bipolar and have spinal issues, so those added concerns just make it feel more hopeless, but it's not. You will get through this and be a better person for it. You already seem like you are communicating more clearly, compared to your first post, keep up the good work.

Talked to one person on the phone she said she was off methadone but she sounded loaded to me. Will keep trying to find someone to talk to. I have MS and am in a wheelchair so it's very hard to get anywhere. Especially right now cause my son is out of town.

Try an NA meeting. Methadone is a very tough detox, it messed with my head for awhile. I have been through it, but I can't give you a hug and say it will pass, I can only type a cyber hug and guarantee it will be worth the wait. There must be others around you who have done this, have you tried to find them?

Afraid , alone can't be around people. I just wish I had someone to talk to who has been through this.

Hi Lilly, just found this today will looking for info about suboxon for my own problems and read all the discussion about what you've been going through. Wanted to answer you lots of times but couldn't figure out how to get current...here now, I think! Do NOT let guilt get in now, when you're going through so much! You need to be completely self involved right now! It's minute by minute where you are now! Withdrawal was the worst experience of my entire life, and no matter what they did at the center, it was still Hell, and when I came home with the Sub, and had to be alone it was terrifying! I couldn't even take care of the cats...no way I could have a dog! They tell you, the 3rd day's the worst, the 7th is the worst...it took me a month to withdrawal! Talk about feeling selfish?...I had to cancel Thanksgiving dinner when I went in on Nov 2nd!! You can only do what you can! Focus on happy thoughts, even if you can only do it for a minute! Don't give up, it will get better! How are you planning on managing your MS in the future? You're doing great! Thanks for sharing your experience. ❤️ Kathy

I have to agree with Jinx. Just take it day by day and it will take time for the Brain to balance out after the physical. Methadone is the worst drug I have ever quit. It seem like it took forever to balance out a bit..YOU will be fine in time. If you did not do this drug for many, many years and at a low dose you should bounce back sooner then some of us on here..Good Luck and keep on Stepping forward.

being selfish is OKAY right now.  you get through this anyway you can (without drugs of course).
just remember...  as soon as you can you need to push yourself to get a little exercise.  even a walk to the mailbox and back.  the more you sit the more muscle atrophy you will get and the exercise releases those feel good chemicals in our brain.

also laughing and music releases those as well.  so does chocolate.

you ARE doing it.  there IS a light at the end of the tunnel and you will get there.

Day 7 Been a week no methadone. Am home alone now. Took home clonidine and some Valium for the mental anguish md anxiety. Just gonna take it one hour at a time. I sure hope this mental part gets easier. This has been the hardest experience I have ever had and I know it's nowhere over. My son called to say he got engaged....I have no feelings just tried to remember that he deserves the mother he use to have so I acted the part. I left my dog at the kennel. I am just having to very selfish right now or I could come undone.

I think 61chevy meant  Clonidine is a blood pressure medication, not Klonopin.
You would not want to mix those two medications up. Klonopin is very addictive medication similar to Valium and Zanax.

Hi hun.  I know you feel so miserable right now but it really, really will get better.  Like everyone says it just takes time.  You may not believe it now but one day you are going to wake up and after about 15 minutes it will dawn on you that you don't feel quite so bad.  Each day after that will be the same way.  Just hang in there....we've all been there and it really is just a matter of patience (NOT my middle name lol).

Hi lily. Like as mentioned methadone stays in your system for at least a month. I assume you just quit cold turkey? Expect a month of withdrawal and a few months of post acute withdrawal syndrome. You have to be okay with NOT being okay for awhile. Just take it one day at a time. I promise you it will get better in time. Every day that you are clean is one day closer to feeling a lot better. Follow the thomas recipe.

Hi Lilly,
Jinx is right...everyone is so different.  But your choice to get this stuff out of your system is awesome.  Great job.  It may take a while and the lack of energy is challenging.  But remember, you have entered a marathon not a sprint and getting to the finish line is so very worth what u r dealing with.

Are you in a Dr's care while detoxing?  Dr may b prescribe something short term for the anxiety.  Klonopin is a blood pressure medication but it also helps with wd's.  If u haven't already, look up Thomas recipe to help ease some wd symptoms.  Keep posting n reading.  This forum really does help.  Pulling for you.  You can do this!  You ARE doing this!  Great job!

are you still in the hospital?

you will get there.  i know it takes about 30 days for your body to totally remove all methodone from you body.  it seeped in your bones, muscles, etc.  you won't feel acute withdrawals that entire time, those should be subsiding a bit, but the lack of energy, a battle mentally, etc will take quite awhile.  :(

wish  i could just wave a magic wand and make it all better, but i cannot.

each person is so different that you may feel better tomorrow.  i have read horror stories and read easy, faster stories.  you will be somewhere in between.
