Getting off pain killers

Hey Everyone, I am new to this site... I am 26 years old and have been addicted to pain killers for about a year now. a few days ago I finally realized that I need to get off of this crap, its taking over my life. I am slowly weaning myself off off pills. I was taking 3 roxicodones 30mg a day. The worst part about this process is having the urge to rail another "blue" & having withdraws... I feel so lazy and very crabby!  I feel so discouraged, like im never gonna be myself again... Any suggestions on ways to cope with withdraws?

Hang in there your making the first step by admitting theres a problem now it's time to take your life back.  For that high of a dosage it's probably good to wean off of instead of cold turkey.  But you probably should talk to your doctor they can lower your doses and help you wean off them safely.  I was only on 10mg and I went cold turkey the first 4 days was Hell!! but I went on google and looked up the Thomas Recipie and bought everything it told me to get I am still taking the vitamins and I have noticed a huge improvement in myself.  I am on day 8 of being clean cold turkey and today is the first day I actually have a little bit of energy and I am starting to feel good and that makes me excited to think i'm getting my life back.  You can do this you have to come up with a plan wether it's your personal plan or a plan with a doctor but make a plan to get clean and stick to it have your mind made up exactly what you are going to do.  If you are prepared with a plan and know what you will do if a bad situation arises you will already have the answer without having to think about it.  You are on here which is good get on everyday read other peoples post this is such a great forum and so many good people on here going through exactly what you are going through ask questions make coments but stay focused on your goal and stick to your plan to get clean and you will be fine.  Also what helped me was telling my doctor, dentist, pharmicist everyone who supplied me to stop I had all my drs red flag my files for no narcotics I kicked my suppliers to the curb deleted there numbers you must stay away from any temptation and if a situation arises just like I said earlier stick to your plan and you will be fine.  Good Luck and keep us posted.

This can change fast 30 days from now you will start to  be a new you again.

What you describe is what everyone goes thru . Took a year to get this bad and it will take a tuff you 30 days to feel better again . What is worse 5-10 days for  the worst of it to pass and start feeling better from there day by day .Or Pills running your sad life .
From my try at CT ( failed after 3 days ) i started a taper plan of 3 1/2 weeks then jumped  , i learned by tapering it  was much more do able for me yes it was tuff the first few day but by day #4 i know i could take it . After Day 4-5 you will feel a bit better day by day . About day 10 you even start likeing yourself again . Takeing pride in your fight for life back .
