Here I am at day 25

Here it is 25 days later and this nasty weather won't stop. Has my wrist,  back and head in pain. I'm ready to toss the towel in and go to the ER. 7pm and bed time don't seem to want to come around.  I'm holding off, praying it's only a fase. Can't get out to a meeting cause the weather is to rough for me to see to drive. Guess that's a good thing too because I can't even drive to the ER even if I wanted.
Guess I'm looking for some pep-talk to get me passed these slow minutes

That's what I'm hoping it is, also that it won't last to much longer. It has its moments where it dint bother me as bad (mostly in the morning) but times it feels like my back needs to pop or something.
It does play a mind game with the head and makes me really want the pills (which I will push that thought out any way I can), and forget about the pain. Still trying to get this sneezing thing under control and now heartburn on top of the other.
Listen to me ramble, it has to get better, just have to push through

John
That little pain in the lower sac in our spine was on of the last things to clear up for me, as far as Body pain. YES, we do have rebound pain as all the Brain/Body Chems/Nervous System and such are trying to re-group back. I remember reading something back in 2012 when my lower back or sac was just unbearable. The reading said that sometimes this is were the toxins end up last. Like the little slivers of pills that are left. How true this is?? I do not know, but it sure made since to me because it finally did go away. NOW 3 yrs later, my back pain is a whole different story, but Walking up & down the River with my Dogs helps so much and Stretching..PT in the pool is wonderful. Try Swimming if you can. Hang tight and keep stepping forward never to look back. It will only get more clearer and clearer as time goes bye and you keep on working at it..
Bless

Today isn't as bad, weather cleared up real nice. It has worn me down physical and mental but by God I pushed through it. I'm dog tired but think I will be okay (I know I will) and let's see day 27 just ahead.
Thank y'all for the support, I plan on trying the stretching, not sure who commented on that.
If walking makes me feel better, stretching has to do wonders as well.

I listen to Loveline with Dr. Drew sometimes because I like to hear the addiction calls.  I don't know how everybody in the forum feels about that show but I've gleaned some good information about Dr. Drew about addiction.  Anyway, about a month ago a guy called in saying that he quit taking Norco about two weeks ago and that his back kept hurting.  Dr. Drew said that it was a normal side effect from coming off of pain medication and that it will eventually go away.  I hope this is the case for you and that you aren't injured.

John, my friend
Hang in there!! Try rotating Tylenol and Ibprofen every 4-6 hours.

Btw.. OMG I AM SO PROUD OF YOU! I remember that day you flushed those pills, you have came so far!!!  Congrats my friend! Your a Warrior!

Also try ice for 15 min on 30 off... If that doesn't seem to help then do the same w heat.
Man I am so proud of you! I have been on here every day but have refrained from commenting but I have read your post and I am still here for you just as I was those first days!

It's for sure difficult. Your little mini me should be the perfect thing to keep you going though. Isn't there a saying like nothing good comes easy? I'm pretty sure there is and I think it's very true. This is tough but so worth it in the end. Have you tried stretches for your back? I know that helps me.

Days like the past 2 have been a real job, I know there's a reward in the end. Seems like the reward is difficult sometimes but I know it's there

I'm so proud of you for not giving in! I hope your proud of yourself too. That was an accomplishment. As for the pain. I have sciatica in both legs and my back and I did something to my neck and I have chiari malformation which also causes pain. It's been bad. Especially my back. Everyone around me seems to be complaining about their back also. I'm thinking it's the weather changing that's making it so bad. If your worried that the pain meds could have done something to you do you have a regular doctor? Maybe you can get a checkup to make sure your doing well. Obviously not to get meds but just make sure your alright. Anyways I'm so proud of you! You give me hope. Keep up the awesome work!

I wanted to chime in say WAY TO GO on 25 days and DO NOT GIVE IN NOW!!!! You are ao totally getting there! Its a constant internal fight within us b/c no one wants to feel like garbage.....even worse when we know we've done it to ourselves....alot of guilt involved.....
I do know one thing though, taking pain meds and subs for a long time masks legitimate problems our bodies were javing b/c pain is what lets us know something is wrong. Taking pain meds, we really dont feel it. Mid to lower back makes me wonder if u have a UTI or kidney infection??? B/C kidney pain for me usually came mid back....start chugging the water.....maybe get some pure cranberry juice....motrin 3 200mg pills for pain issues?????
Just a thought... .keep plugging away my friend b/c the destiny is totally worth the trip....

I do have one question.
Is it normal for the lower mid back to be in pain after 3 weeks?
I never had problems with my lower back until I came off these pills

Nighthawk,  she is my mini me lol.
I farmed for most my life so that's a nickname that's been with me since 1993 lol.
I didn't go to the ER, I'm still in this war. Guess I've always been hard headed so I was hard  headed on going to the ER.
Thank y'all for the replies,  I don't like the idea of letting anyone down and thought last night I was going to.
Weather has cleared up but it has taking a toll on me. I'm tired, hurting but know it will pass because here I am.
This was my only reach out at the time, I now see what having a sponsor is for. Talking in person can be the key to success.
I appreciate going to push this through today, can't worry about tomorrow.

Aww John, i know how you feel.  I get paid quite badly at times too, but it passes.  At 25 days, you are still having hyperalgesia, I'll bet.

Don't give up; you can do this, buddy!!!!

Well first off, don't you dare throw in the towel, you've worked way to hard for that.  Also, unless it's a true emergency, no need to go to the er either. Try a hot bath or shower, Tylenol or Advil. Heat packs, or cold whichever you prefer. Try to keep your mind as busy as possible. Your body is still healing, the aches and pains are pretty much a given.  And remember the aches and pains intensify thru detox. It'll get better, but in the meantime, you'll have to fight thru it.  Please don't lose hope. It's not easy by any means, but you've come so far. Keep up that fight!  Hope tomorrow is better for ya. Take care..,

Keep putting the right foot forward my friend , i've read up on your program through Ronda's post and you got your bases covered...

You don't have to be the strong man all the time, these narcotics are responsible for a good many tears for all of us on our way to sobriety...

My greatest inspiration when i quit back in '99 was my son, and i'm hoping that that little princess in your profile picture is yours. Do you have children, is this little girl yours? If so, this little one will be so proud of her Poppa, doing what you're doing now. By being sober, you have so much to offer your children. You've gone through something here that will serve you well as a parent , moreso than you know now if your kids are young. When they're in high school, they'll have an example that without your quitting they would not have. You'll truly be able to help them make choices and talk about being responsible with mind altering substances in ways that folks that have not had the problem simply cannot. So, when you're feeling low watch your daughter resting peacefully and know that your program is allowing you to be there for her in ways that 25 days ago, you could not. You are not only dong right by yourself, but you are being the example that you want to be and your family are truly blessed to have you here today, doing what you must to be the best you can be and to live the best life you can.

It might be that you're off to bed, if you go down at 7pm. You may not be up for a pep talk even , but here it is anyways. You're an incredible example of one working the program for 25 days in. You have an aura about you that says to me that you will be able to help many many addicts not only get through their detox, but also to really live and walk the walk. That's no small feat. I've never said this before to anyone, but here I am saying it to you. You would be a fine Addictions Therapist , just in case you ever thought about changing careers. I don't say it lightly. Be proud of your process. You're doing  a GREAT JOB of it.

Get on this site, or NA online and do some service work instead of going to he ER. Time flies when you're doing service work. I'm glad you posted here for you. It's good to meet you. Do you have a farm ? do you actually do the plowing? what a nice life that would be......I love that you walk it off. One suggestion, maybe since that is your go to, you could pick up a rowing machine or a step machine for inclement weather? You deserve it. and it could help to keep you sane, help you to pass these slow minutes?

Your one of the most beneficial people I have talked to. I feel your pain I really do. I've been dizzy and in intense pain also. I had the chance to get something today and I didn't. Please stay strong. I would hate to see you lose that 25 days which seems impossible to reach for me right now. Hang in there your not alone.
