Going cold turkey

I'm going to spare you the long boring story of my addiction, seeing how it's been told before. I guess the bottom line is I'm tired of letting a little pill control and utterly destroy my life. I've been taking about 10-15 10 mg norcos a day, which is actually a lot less than I used to take.
This isn't my first rodeo, but hopefully my last. I've got my daily vitamins, cal/mag/zinc, immodium and plenty of tv shows on DVD for the sleepless nights to follow. I also have some Valium to take for the first few days only, as I don't want to switch addictions.
I'm so very tired of living this way. The constant worrying about running out and finding more. At first they were used for pain, but quickly became recreational. I've lost so much because of my unwillingness to give my sobriety 100%. My life has lost all meaning and purpose. I've been going through the motions for too long! I want my life back! I want ME back!!!
So here I am, as ready and prepared as I possibly could be. Thank you for taking the time to read all this and thank you for caring! I've always loved this site and plan on being here and posting constantly.

Thank you so much for your support!!! I guess I did forget to mention that I'll be stopping tomorrow, well tonight was my last dose! Hehe! I realized as i read your replies and began writing my own that i was smiling! It felt so good to be open and be welcomed with open arms.
There's no more high, just taking to feel normal. Then it dawned on me that takings them doesn't make me feel "normal". That person isn't me and I really miss me, and I'm sure my friends and family do too.
Thank you again! Soooo much! I'm sure I'll be posting again soon!!!

Welcome back.  It sounds like you have a great plan and are going to do this.  It's amazing how you put it all in a nutshell.  We think we are the only one going thru it and come to this forum and find out there are so many of us feeling the same.  So many of us that are allowing our lives to be controlled by pills.  It is so comforting to find out we are not alone and that this forum is here to help us not only thru our detox but with all the other things that arise after.
Good luck and I think you've got this.
