Pregnant and I want to quit for good!

Here's the thing, After many years I want to stop my Vicodin usage. I recently found out I 'm pregnant with my third child.  I've stopped for months at a time in the past but I'm finally ready to just quit! I've taken large doses around 10 at a time.  This is the first time I've actually gone through withdrawals.  I think it's because everything is enhanced because of my pregnancy.  I'm scared and I just want to stop.  I haven't taken anything for six days and I'm  feeling so weak, nausous, cold, tired and sad.  Please help me.  Is there anything I can do?

If you are 6 days clean...I would not taper at this point...that would mean starting over...may have been better to have tapered in the beginning than to have gone CT but u r where u r now...which is 6 days clean...it will get better and better now..hold on...you have 2 to think of

Hey!! This drug is a class C med - go to www. safefetus. com - it is not known if it causes a lot of harm but has cause some harm in animals - I took a class C when I was pregnant and my son is fine - not that it is good for you to keep doing it - here is what I copied -

( this is what it can cause)
"Teratogenic in some animals producing central nervous system anomalies.
Suggested association between exposure in 1st trimester and some congenital anomalies mainly cardiovascular defects, but the data are limited."

Taper off and I think you will be better - I stopped my class C med because it knocked me out at night and I couldn't get up with my newborn - i tappered off once the baby was born.

First of all, welcome to the forum and next....how many weeks along are you?  Have you seen your OB yet?  If you have already been off for six days I would hope you consider staying that route but you really do need to discuss with your OB....quitting c/t can be very stressful on your body.....especially during pregnancy.  W/D really does suck but you are sick days in and hopefully things will just improve from here on out.  I know I was completely bombed when I was pregnant with my first child....I was so upset but my OB assured me that I was certainly not the first to have these concerns.  I stopped everything from that point on so I can only surmise that your OB will do the same.  BTW, I am also an L&D/Prenatal testing RN and have seen a lot of drug and alcohol issues in many women.  The best thing you can do is be upfront w/ your OB and staff involved in your prenatal care.

Best of Luck to you!
Peace

6 Days !  That's great. You should start feeling alot better each day. Of course I would choose to be honest with my ob doc. But this is the best thing you will ever do for yourself or your child.
Do you have any spirtiual background?
Me and my little guy with Down Syndrome will be praying for you to be strong and have peace that surpasses all understanding.
It will get better!  Keep your thoughts positive. If you struggle read an encouraging book. I've been listening to the cds a better you by Joel. It is soothing. We tend to beat ourselves up. Dont.
God Bless
