Good news! (:

So as I had posted yesterday I had been sober since I found out I was pregnant. And about a week ago I came across some dilaudid and stupidly took them for about 5 days. And once I realized what I was doing I stopped. Pretty sad it took me that long to realize I know. But anyways you all were so helpful and nice I can't thank u enough. Cause I was completely lost on what to do! Today I had an ultrasound I'm 35 weeks and thank god baby is completely healthy! 7.5 pounds already so she's Gunna be a big girl! But I haven't stopped crying all day knowing she's healthy makes me soo happy!

Now I just have to tell my obgyn on Thursday that I did what I did. She doesn't know my past addiction history cause I didn't want to tell her and her look at me differently. I just want to be normal and I finally realize Iam not normal. So my question is what and how do I tell her? I need some advice here. Cause my stomach hurts just thinking about it!

Hello lynnalb. The only huge ordeal will be you having a Beautiful baby ! :) If anything your ob will admire your honesty and commitment to the safety of your baby. as Vicki said once you get honest all the fear and stress will just go away and I'm sure your Dr. will reassure you that all will be well. Now you are aware of the power of your addiction so you may want to look into a addiction specialist our some kind of outside support. I wish you and your babe the very best.. lesa

So by me telling her it won't be a huge ordeal at the hospital when they test the baby?

Lynn- When we get honest, a lot of stress just goes away!  Tell the doctor you took an opiate for 5 days...it's the best thing to do. Opiates stay in the baby's system much longer than in an adult. It has to do with fetal circulation, which is different than our circulation.

Cord blood is tested at birth. So, to be prudent, the doctor needs to know from you what you've taken. I'm sure it will be just fine.
