HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET HOOKED ON SUBOXONE

Hi Guys I have not visited the site in many months, and I don't want to abuse your time. First of all this site meant the world to me as I detoxed myself off of percocets. I run two full time businesses and both my father and my husband's father both have Alzheimer's disease. That is how I got on the Perks, a so called woman friend advised me it would give me the energy I needed to keep up; so called friend went from do you want some to do you need some real fast. That's when I knew this was a problem. Luckily I never got high on the stuff, and the highest dosage I used was around 40mg a day. I gradually reduced it by 5mg every 5-7 days. When I was getting ready to stop  completely I went to my area doctor for I feared withdrawal. He gave me Suboxone 8mg/2 mg (whatever that means). Well when I went back for my follow up I had thank God kicked the Perks on my own and even put the box of Suboxone on his desk. He advised me to keep it if I needed it for he said he rather I use that than the Perks. First of all for me the Perks are impossible I knew one person and removed her from my life several months ago. I rarely drink, my average is 4-6 times a year and that normally amounts to 2-3 glasses of wine. The husband and I went to festival about 4-6 weeks ago and we both got frankly loaded. I was sick as a dog for about a week and I knew from the Perks I could relieve the hangover with them so I used the Suboxone for a good week. I was taking a strip  a day. When I got over the hangover I was scared I would then have withdrawal from the Suboxone if I just stopped it. So I have been taking it for no other reason but fear. I cut the strip in 1/2 and used that dosage for a couple of weeks and today  cut it to 1/4 of a strip. I am getting ready  to go out of town on business in two weeks, and I am confused over what to do here. Is this amount of usage enough to cause withdrawal? Due to the short term usage can I just stop the drug or am I better off cutting the dosage more before I stop. I was hoping if I kept it at the 1/4 of a strip a day for about 4 days I could jump off this stuff and be out of the woods and not have to worry over withdrawal. My biggest fear is being out of town conducting business and finding myself sick. So in a nutshell is the amount of time I used enough to cause withdrawal? Should I taper it more before stopping it, and lastly should I go back to the doctors for more of the Suboxine (I still have a fair amount left of the original and only script I have ever had of this medication)
I feel like an idiot for I never ever touched any of this stuff until I was in my fifties and I don't want to become addicted to the Suboxone. I also have xanax for I suffer from GAD and my doctor gives it to me for anxiety attacks.
Can somebody please advise me what I should do?

You took the suboxone to treat a hangover? Then stayed on it?

Hi Guys, many thanks for writing me back so quickly on a Sunday; its extremely kind of you people. Yes I took the suboxone to get over a hangover ~ I get the worst hangovers in the world hence my not touching booze on any regular basis, I can get sick for 3-5 days on 3 stinking glasses of wine, so I avoid it. That was one of the things I did like about the Perks for if I did drink it would kick the hangover out of me and I of course could function and work. With two businesses open 7 days a week and our father's being in such poor health to me it was like a gift; thankfully I limit my consumption to around 3-5 times a year. We worked a festival and a bunch in fact a bunch of us did so and afterwards we stopped at a bar to celebrate. Even then I drank nothing like my friends were, I would say a fair guess was I had about  6  drinks, and ended up in hangover hell. Since the Perks always knocked it out of me I tried the suboxone (I had never used it before and I was off the Perks a good month). I got scared that I would upon stopping the suboxone throw my body into withdrawal. I think back on it now and realize to late I over reacted and kept putting off stopping the sobxone for I have grown a huge fear of withdrawaling off any drug. So I took it out of fear, and with our schedules I then became even more scared the longer I used it that I would get sick. As per my note I know of no person I can buy the Perks from (no one in my family or circle of friends know of any of this, and probably wouldn't even believe it) Its been around 4-6 weeks since I drank that day but have  used the  soboxone. For what it may be worth my mother was dying of Alzheimer's, now my father and my father in law both are down with it. In fact as I write the husband is at the hospital with his mother for they are transferring his father to a rehabilitation  center. We both work both business full time and I can't afford to go down sick from this stupid mistake. I used the soboxone as noted and I just need to know what I should do, for I also have to go out of town on business in two weeks. I need to know:
Is it OK to just stop using this stuff, not being on it real long
Today I took a 1/4 of the strip, should I keep doing it for a few days before stopping.
In either of the above will I still get sick.
The only other option I have is to go back to the doctor for more for I fear being out of town and getting sick
Or am I making way to much out of this and just have myself scared
Thanks guys

You need to get into some sort of aftercare. I think counseling/therapy would do you a world of good. Your thinking is not right honey. And youa re on a merry-go-round that is very dangerous. Throw the Suboxone away!!! Stop the madness. Life is good and you don't need to keep testing it. Just stop.

Exactly. STOP. Then throw it away. My point in asking about taking the Sub for a hangover is because I would liken that to using a Glock to kill an ant. But, apparently you don't know anything about suboxone, what it is, what it does, and why it's used. You would have been better off with Percocet...

Anyway, don't take anymore and get yourself in a program of some sort. As far as wd's are concerned, it's different for everyone so you'll have to play that by ear. It shouldn't be anything you can't handle but it's a hard call. In the future, never take SUBOXONE again. It's not a PRN medicine one would take for a headache, etc...

Good luck-
