Help Methadone VS Subutex

My Name is Michelle, i am a mother of 1 and have a wonderful supportive husband, i had an operation back in March that caused some pain and was perscribed T3 for pain, well that didn't work so someone offered me a percocet big mistake, i got addicted to the percocet and started taking about 14 to 16 a day this was the course i was on for about 4 months, i was so addicted that just recently i admitted myself to a methadone program and i am feeling major guilt. I  was put on 20 mlgrms for 3 days then doctor said he wanted to put me from 20 to 35 milgrms i said no way, that seems to be way to much let me try 30 and see what happens, i took 1 30 miligrams dose and was sick from 3pm until the next morning i literally thought i was dying, i called the clinic immediately and said that my body could not handle the 30 mils, so they put me down to 25 mils, i seem to be ok with this, i have only been on it well today will be the 6 consecutive day and now i want to taper off this, I beat crack/cocaine 21 years ago on my own and i know i can do this i just need to know the best way to get off of the methadone at 25 miligrams can someone help?

Yes! Taper off as soon as possible. You could probably do it pretty rapidly, as Debbie said. Do not let them talk you out of it. Be firm. They shouldn't have let you start it to begin with!! Unbelievable!

Be strong but stop that stuff before it gets to far in to you!

I agree....I am a 29 yr old mommy of 4.....well gave birth to two and have two step children---however-i was addicted to pills as well but for 6 years and I joined a methadone clinic 3 years ago....I just jumped off 9 days ago and I'm going to be brutally honest it has been the worst expirience of my life...see the thing with methadone is that yeah your off the pills but your still addicted...but now to a drug that literally will make you feel like you can't live without it..if you stay on it.your dose will gradually increase because your body will adapt and you'll feel like its fine to go up little by little ....but that's what they want...if you even mention to them right now about getting off I guarantee you the response you will get will be something along the lines of "well first we need to get you at a stable dose and we can go from there" but please if you just recently joined get the hell outta there hun because I wouldn't wish the pain of methadone withdrawels on a single soul on this earth...I stand today wishing I just detoxed off the pills and didn't join the methadone program

it would have just been better for you to detox off the percocet. methadone is a monster. is the clinic ready to let you taper already? i would get off as soon as possible. it is a much worse drug to detox from than the percocets. dont let them up your dose. tell them you want to get off. you decided it was a bad idea. the clinic will have to lower your dose. after 6 days i would even consider just not going to the clinic anymore. i think they will give you a hard time if you tell them you want to stop. next time you go talk to them, if they want you to stay on i would just stop taking it.
get some counseling in place, go to na or aa.
