We can't suggest a taper schedule on this site. You are not taking a very high dose and may be able to just take the plunge. Talk to your doctor as he knows your entire health history and what is best for you.

If you have been taking them for chronic pain then you should have an alternate pain management plan in place. A pain crisis is no fun. Tylenol and Ibuprofen work well for most types of pain can be taken safely together. They are often overlooked. There is Tylenol in the Vicodan and you might try taking scheduled doses for pain relief. The max dose for Tylenol is 4000mg however the new standard is now 3000mg.

Massage, heat and accupuncture are some non-pill methods that can be effective. If you have not been to a pain management clinic, as your doctor for a referral. There are also pain management communities here and many supportive people who share your struggle. Keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Take care.
