Just a quick FYI about the Hylands Restful Legs products. I've seen two different preparations by Hylands at our pharmacy. One has quinine, the other does not. For withdrawal-related RLS you need the one that contains quinine.
Check with the pharmacist before you take it to make sure there will be no interactions with anything else you take, whether it's over-the-counter or prescription. Don't take my word for it, but I recall that you shouldn't take Benadryl with quinine, particularly if you have hypertension and take blood pressure meds. Since the alpha-blocker Clonidine (BP medication) is often used as an off-label withdrawal medication, your pharmacist can be your best friend for these kinds of questions. Benadryl is in a whole lot of over-the counter allergy and sleep aids, so look for diphenhydramine on the label.
Lund, don't beat yourself up too badly over those two pills. That guilt will just tell you you're a failure and you might as well give up the fight. PLEASE don't fall for it! Just get back on that horse and keep up the fight. And while you're at it, flush whatever pills you have left in your possession.
Do you mind telling us what drug you are trying to detox from? Some drugs have somewhat different withdrawal symptoms than others, and I'm sure plenty of people here will have some ideas to help you through it. Hang in there buddy. It won't last forever, and you have a wonderful life ahead of you just waiting to be lived. :-)
I only took 2 untill I could find somthing to make the RLS go away
Hi lund.. taking 2 pain killers to stop the detox process will not get you very far but just have it last longer.. There are things you can do for the rls.. Bananas are good as they have a lot of potassium, Tonic Water is good for the Quinine.. I used a knock off of a product called Hylands restful leg it dissolves under your tongue.. I found it to be very beneficial.. add Valerian Root for the anxiety and it will help to ease the process.. also wrapping your legs snugly with ace bandages help as does Walking.. Walking is the best for a majority of the symptoms.. I'm glad you are giving this a go and I wish you a Very Good Journey.. make that Commitment ok and get rid of the meds. I agree about Giz :) Take care lesa
