nana, i hope you can see what dav has written, take care,
Have you completely stopped? It kinda sounds like it as you are describing withdrawal symptoms to a T..One thing you want to pick up is some Immodium for the stomach issues..It really works..At times I have gotten blue in the face saying "get some immodium" to which the person I may have suggested it to comes back a couple days later complaining about continued stomach issues and the runs..That tells me right a way they didn't take the advice..Its probably one of the only things that one can take during the first few days of wd's that makes a noticibly big difference in getting thru that early part of discomfort...The first time I cold turkeyed from oxy a year ago, I knew nothing about what to expect as at the time I had not found this site yet. It seemed for those first 3 days I was running to the bathroom every half hr during the nights..Trying to get some sleep during that first week is hard enough. Running to the bathroom at all hrs wasn't helping much either..So, get some immodium..
If you are attempting to taper, get with your Dr and figure out a plan. He could switch you to a lower dose pain med to wean you and also give you some non-narcotic meds to help some. One is clonidine. Its a blood pressure med that is normally taken at bedtime to help relieve the withdrawal stress on your system as wd's have a habit of raising one's blood pressure going thru the physical part that first week...A warning though. If prescribed, take only as directed. It is not a sleeping pill..If too much is taken, a person can put themselve's at risk of a stroke if they drop their blood pressure too low..
Amitriptyline is another that has some pain relief qualities and a mild anti depressant in it to help restabilize sleep in conjunction with the clonidine. These two things were what my Dr gave me to help when I approached him about me getting away from the oxycontins..Your dose is low compared to what I was consuming but the oxy's are a nasty drug to part company with..If you choose to just quit and cold turkey, you need to mentally acknowledge to yourself the followig 4 days are going to feel like a real bad case of the flu. Aches, pains, anxiety spells, restless sleep (if you can get any)etc..These symptoms do pass and things "DO" get better. But to get there, you need to get by 2 to 3 weeks of not feeling the best, not getting alot of rest, and generally feeling zero'd out on energy or motivation. This stage is where many have trouble as they focus too much of wanting the ill feelings to stop and not really accepting it's going to take time..I'm closing in on 3 months away from those demon's and still have some after affects, but I don't let that bother me too much. I look at the fact I got away from them ,,,finally!
Hope this helps give you some insight on what your looking at..Its tough those first few days but once by them, improvement does happen on a daily basis. Not alot, but it is taking place.
its ok, its just further down, think you got more replies on this one now,lol
