In General, anyone on Methadone, function well

Just some general thought, I hear people on Methadone stabilized. Heard Dr Dean Edell say you can function well on a stable dose. For me it just seems their is many general symptoms, up and down. Seems to slowly feel worse. I have seen people say, does drugs make my hands swell and hurt. I say yes, I had it and it went away when I was off. For me it does not seem to work or function so well. DOES anyone feel they can take Methadone, Vicodin and function well. Feel somewhat normal? Being at a stable constant dose?

Was on methadon't for a year 65mg a day. C/t about a week ago. But still took a few percs to take edge off. Not very helpful though. Now I have been taking 10mg of dome but I haven't taken anything for 36 hours so I'm ready to ride the storm. Don't take methadone. Don't take anything except what you need to cope. It will help you wean off and right now I feel like **** but I know the worst is over. I hope! Keep reading and posting as much as possible. These ppl really care and will help. Much love. Good luck

You have two different animals in your post. Hydrocodone and methadone arent even close to the same. Its mostly the long half life of methadone that makes it attractive for maintenance. A single dose is good for over 24 hours. And a person can be quite functional on methadone. If vic's lasted longer it might have been the case with those also - but its not. A person being maintained on methadone once daily would need 4-6 doses of hydrocodone to remain on something resembling an even keel. And it would be quite a roller coaster ride.

I haven't been on Methadone very long but I feel like I could stay on this and not have any problems, although, I don't want to.  I think that is the big key.  I think you need to fix underlying problems.

i was on 10 to15mgs for about two years and felt fine was able to cope w/daily life except if i didnt have a dose for the next day i would freak out....but i havent taken any in 17days or so i just got tired of being dependent on something to fuction....
