Hi, new here

Hi, I am new here and the post below describes my problem

My addiction went out of control 2 weeks ago.  My Doc ordered ultram which I had no idea was so addicting but the pharm would not fill it because of major reactions with Zoloft.  Doc substituted it with Darvocet,  I also had a script for fierocet for migranes.  I had no Soma for the last 3 weeks.  Needledd to say I ended up a mess which hubby will not tolerate.

I willingly went to outpatient rehab, I am on day 4  I have Fibromylagia, 4 (or 5) discs in my neck are bad.  Ortho said this was not a surgical fix as too many discs are involved.  Due to the neck issues my neck is always out and I cannot always get to the chiro.

When the neck is "out" that bad it affects many other muscles and joints.  At times the base of my skull hurts so bad and pounds like a migrane, I can only lay on the couch with a pillow rolled under to stretch the neck.

The soma seems to work the best.  The other 2 drugs are not always here and darvocet will never be perscribed to me again because of tylenol issues W / Liver.  I am also going to have my doc write in my files no more fierocet or darvocet.

I was recently, not even a month yet, given neurontin for fibro pain and I really don't think it does much if anything.  We bought a hot tub, a new mattress and I have just about every massage thing on the market, to try to help with the pain.

Sorry this is so long but I tried to hit all bases.  Any suggestions on the soma?  I probably have maxed at 8 - 10 soma in a day.  In my case I am prescribed 1 or 2 ,,,3 or 4 times a day so sometimes I take 3 later in the day and it is very obvious.  Hubby will not tolerate it and I need to find another option for my chronic pain.  Any suggestions of another option for pain that is not addicting?  I have 10 clean days with only 2 aleves and they don't work

Thank You
GSDgirl

Darvocet is mostly tylenol and fierocet is a benzo for migraines.  I have thought about acupuncture but winter is not a good time financially.  I do go to the chiro tho.

I just bought arnica and flexamin (vitamin).  I am on a vitamin regimen, just had vit d & b tested awaiting results.

Soma is carispodoral (sp?).

Thank you and if I find any relief I will be sure to share.

i don't think there is any pill that i would consider a 'safe' pill unless i am buying it out of the vitamin section of vitamin cottage.  i think darvoset is just as bad.

and i hope the acupuncture works...like i said i have heard only good things.

I'm just here to offer my support, I too have fibromyalgia and have become addicted to painkillers in an effort to control my pain.  I can't offer any ideas on the drugs you mentioned as I've never heard of them other than on this board.  I don't know if its because I"m in Canada? not sure...I know there's many diff meds that aren't available here.  The post to you above mentioned acupuncture for chronic pain...I'm currently looking into that as well.  Have only had one treatment and it takes at least 4 or 5 to feel any benefits.  Is Darvocet and fierocet similar to percocet?  I'm currrently tapering off bother percocet and oxy 10mgs.  I hope that some here can offer better answers than I can, I can just offer my support as a fellow fibromyalgia sufferer....

although i have never tried it i have heard AMAZING things about acupuncture for chronic pain.  you should look in to it.  you don't want to lose your husband over some stupid pill.  i had issues with soma's amongst many other things...i just found some in my drawer today and flushed them down the toilet.

it makes me feel even worse about my addiction when i read that people are really in pain.  my initial problem began when i broke my collar bone and separated and dislocated my shoulder all at the same time.  but it eventually healed and i was hooked on pills of all kinds...

where it still hurts if i sleep wrong i would not call it chronic pain and i can totally cope with it.

i'm sorry.  i hope things get better for you.

if you are able you could try yoga too.  it def. helps me with my everyday aches and pains...but it seems your pain is much more severe.
