How can I quit narcotics

I am addicted to oxycodone, I take Norco 2 tabs, three times a day.
I am still in pain, so I take more than recommended for relief. I have been taking norco, or vicodin for over 3 years and my tolerance for the meds is high so I need more to releive the pain. When I run out before my next script, I have bad withdrawels. I wish I could take something stronger but I am afraid to ask my Dr. These drugs control your whole life. and I want to stop. Nothing helps, advil, aleve are like candy and do nothing for my pain. Am I alone?

What is the source of your pain?  Is it something that therapy might help?

First off you are not alone.  But in your post you wrote that you need something stronger because the noro's are not working? I am not sure as to the source of your pain but perhaps a pain management doctor would help?  They are more equipped with giving you a proper prognosis on managing your pain and whether or not that will be plausable with or without narcotics.  Wish you the best on this endeavor.
