How much is too much ativan?

Hi I have been prescribed .5mg of ativan for anxiety and sleep one pill 4-6 hrs as needed.  Take two if symptoms are severe.  However I tool 3 tonight.  1.5mg  is this too much,  I'm exhausted, however I want to make sur that what I took is ok.

I would like to add any amount over what your Dr prescribed is to much.. 1 to 2 as needed not 3 multiple amount of med can lead to complications with tolerance and addiction... lesa

Woah!!! Please don't take 12 mgs!! I could absolutely be wrong on this - but I believe the maximum dose for anxiety is between 1-6 mgs daily split into multiple doses, not to exced 10mgs, with the largest dose taken an bedtime. And as just a sleep aid between 2-6mgs...

Like I said - I could be wrong but 12 mgs sounds awfully high... TrayCee - if you don't mind me asking - where did you get that info? (I googled Ativan dosage and checked a few sites before I posted.)
