Hey again,

The highs and lows are very normal Nick.  The same thing happened to me (and many others I've read about).

You aren't faking the love.  Just think how good it will be when you're out of your fog.

If you can't sleep, don't lie in bed.  It is too frustrating!!!  Get up and come here and read or write how you feel.  It is always a nice reminder later about why we need to stay clean.

The sleep will come, I promise.

You are soooo close to getting over the hump.
We're pulling for you,

bob

I am with you on the Vic withdrawls and I'm also on Benzo withdrawl too.  It all started with a script from my "Doctor" and 7 months later I finally figured out my body was dependant on these drugs.  The best advice I can give you is to do what I did.  I went to the hospital my "Doctor" worked out of and told them what was going on when I was in the beginning stages of withdrawls from refusing to take anymore.  I scared the **** out of them and they found me an adictionologist and a treatment center.  It was hell to get off these and I'm still going through withdrawls after 32 days, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and I feel a zillion times better.  Please seek professional help from a withdrawl clinic.

Congrats on day 2! Every passing hour of being clean is something to be proud of. Two years ago I went cold turkey and it was on my birthday. I just told my family I had the flu so my parents wouldn't come over. I also have kept mine a secret so if people question how you are feeling just blame it on the flu. Do you have any refills on your script? If so, I would call the pharmacy and tell them you no longer need them. Also, you could talk to your doctor and tell him you no longer need them. Tell him you haven't taken any for a day or two and he may prescribed something to help. One thing that my doctor prescribed was clonodine. It is a blood pressure med that is prescribed for withdrawals. It helps with the elevated heart rate associated with withdrawals. It also helps with the hot/cold flashes and can help a bit with the sleep. One thing that has helped me more than anything is exercise. I know it's the last thing on your mind due to the lack of energy but helps so much. Just start with a short walk around the block. You'll be surprised on how you'll just end up walking further and further each time. Toss in some headphones with some of our favorite music and give it a try. I noticed while walking or jogging that I didn't even really feel the withdrawals. Not sure if it was because my body needed the exercise or my mind was just preoccupied by it. Either way, I feel exercise is a must. It helps speed up the whole withdrawal process. Also be sure to push the fluids and eat healthy. Check in to the amino acid protocol in the health pages. The vitamins and supplements really help restore all the nutrients we lost while using.
Be sure to stay mentally strong and remember that it will get better! I know it's hard to believe that we can get back to our previous state before using but we can and will. It's just easy to think like that because sometimes a bit of depression sets in during withdrawals and we think our life will never be the same. The fact is you life will be so much better once you are clean! It is so worth the fight! This fight won't be easy and sometimes you'll have doubts on whether or not you will win. But remember that many others out there have won and people are winning the battle of addiction everyday. You can also win! Just stay mentally focused and tell yourself every minute that failure is not a option. I wish you the best of luck and if you need anything, please let me know.
