Hydromorphone/oxycontin withdrawal

I went home for a little over a month began having my ole migraines again and found my old prescriptions for hydromorphone and oxycontin. With the combo of theoriginal headaches and  my mother facing a brain tumor i found myself needing them to just get away from it all slowly but surely in this months span I took almost all of the pills about three bottles. And than when I couldn't sleep I took ambien. I left my house to go back to the state I'm living at to attend college and I've been off all of this for 4-5 days. The withdrawal started on the 10hour drive back with severe leg and back pain. The first two nights the pain would not allow me to lay down. Thank the Lord the pain in my joints has subsided. I don't eat or sleep much. What's really torcherous is the heartburn/acid reflux I am having and I feel like I have a baseball sized knot in my stomach I can finally pass a bowel as of yesterday. Dry mouth etc... I'm mainly worried about the heartburn/knot has anyone heard of that in this withdrawal?? I believe I can do this with the help of the Lord. I'm so fearful to the point now that I won't touch an opiod again. Any tips? This sounds crazy I know but I read on a forum that adderall can help ease the withdrawal?? I was kind of shocked. Any truth to that?

Your symptoms sound a lot like gastritis. I would consult a gastroenterologist since your stomach symptoms seem to be abnormally persistent--beyond usual "withdrawal symptoms."

No you are NOT allowed to take hydromet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take some Robitussun and suck it up!! Hydromet is essentially hydrocodone with cough syrup.

Sorry to come in at the very end, but I am on day 5 and starting to feel better. I wish you the very best of luck. How did people deal with problems like this before the internet? This forum is very helpful. I am hopeful that you are through the worst of it and stay true. If you get weak, visit your friends/support here. Andrew

Hi!  I am glad you are doing well!  The stomach issues are not fun, but they do go away along with the rest of the symptoms.  I would just stay on a high fiber diet or use stool softeners if you need something.

Are your other symptoms pretty much gone?

Never got a response on my last q but it seems with the gas x I'm doing much better. Is it normal to have a day where my bones begin to hurt again? It's pretty random

Does anyone know how long this stomach bloating/ constipation lasts for? I'm starting to really worry and it's really really irratating. Happens especially after I eat. I took gas x last night and some laxatives. It helped a little and I was able to use the restroom but here I am this morning and my stomach is still acting up with air.

I bet it will help.  Try something mild like Phillips or something first though.  I don't want you taking something that will give you awful cramps!

Thanks alot trama means alot :). I'm gonna see
of maybe gas x or something will work for my stomach or maybe some kind of laxative for the air build up. I wonder if that might work.

HI!  I just read this and wanted to just say that you are doing really good!  You have been through a rough few days, and I know how hard it is to maintain sanity during all of this!  I found that hot baths and really deep breathing help some.  It lowers the BP and heart rate thus lowering your anxiety.  You start concentrating on the breathing and forget to concentrate on what's bothering you!!!  : )  It helps with getting to sleep too!

You're doing great honey!  Keep it up!

Hi,

5HTP is a natural amino acid which you can get from any healthfood shop or online.

It's good for anxiety and tends to lift the mood too.

Hi,

The chest tightness, as I'm sure you know, is caused by anxiety.

Valerian can safely be taken during the daytime along with 5HTP if anxiety is a problem.

Glad to hear things are improving for you.

Take care

You say the headaches and stress led you to relapse. I take something called propranol to prevent migraines...WORKS WONDERS. I haven't had a bad one in many years. As for the stress, if you find it lasts a long time...try Zoloft or a similar drug. This too worked wonders for me. Good News, if you are on day four or five; the physical part is almost over. Keep doing what you are doing, and stay busy.

Lol thanks Simon. Today was remarkably better. I just realized after I ate that my stomach began to hurt and bloat again. Lots of people talk about getting the runs but for me it's quite the opposite. I really am finding it's difficult to use the rest room.

Valerian root comes as pills or tincture.

You can get it at any good healthfood shop, or some large supermarkets like Walmart. you can also order it online, although of course that takes a bit longer.

Take care
