Im back on methadone and down

I just want some encouragement as i was on subutex and got down to 6 mg and did a 2yr music degree and then aftyer the corse finished I home detoxed but it went wrong with this and that , well basically i used , and used for about 3 weeks ....the medical center put me back on methadone and titrated me to 75 ml - I'm so gutted I'm back on it , I'm on diazapam too but thats tapered dwon from 40mg to 20 and stopped there

I want to know what the way forward could be and what the sid eefcts are for methadone ---Ive been on it 6 weeks now and i feel a bit detached ,, Ive put on weight and ache in the mornings and feel tired all the time , Ive got hep C too , I keep forgetting stuff and just feel lost , but I'm mentally well and can get my thought pattern postaive if I try , I know I can get back to being clean but it will take a while ....any advice will be gratefully reicived , I know it will be hard to detox off meth the longer I'm on it but also its better to be on this than street drugs, Im very well into NOT ever using again and mabey it took this to get that into my psyche ...I hate drugs now , and was a frequent lapser even at college , so this is a painfull position to be in but lesson learned .

Ps .I wonder if its better to be on meth while I have the interferon treatment soon for hepatitus C, got to try and see a posative side to this ?

I have hep C also.  All of that methadone processing through your liver can't be a good thing.  If I could afford the interferon treatment , but if I could I would do everything in my power to get clean to give myself the best chance of successfully getting clear of hepC.  Wow that would be fantastic.  If you want your life to get better .  Start a fast taper off methadone. There is alot of support here and in N.A meetings to help. 75ml of methadone would make anyone feel "a bit detached"   You know what they say in meetings? If you want what we have and are willing to go to any lengths to get it."  It takes going through some pain and work !

Hi ....well methadone has its place in the world ...your right about it being good to get off street drugs but its not meant for long term use..I was on the stuff for 6 1/2 yrs for pain management and that was way to long..there are a lot of side effects...noding off is one that is bothersome ....you fall asleep at the most inappropriate times like at social gatherings then there is the sexual side effects..it kills your sex drive especially in men but both sexes notice it...there is a general tiredness that I think you sorta get use to
and the "methadone fog" that your under that you don't notice till your off it...the worst part is trying to get off it....for me the withdrawal lasted for months....8 1/2mo of tapering then another 4 mo till I finely started to feel better...im 183 days into recovery now and life is good again but I wouldn't want to go threw that again...my advise to you is use your time on methadone to strengthen your foundation with N/A OR A/A or a substance abuse conslor but build up yourself to prepare for a clean and sober life again..get the aftercare in place now and start to taper off the methadone as soon as you feel strong enough to...the longer your on it the harder the withdrawal also keep in mind its going to take a few mo to get off of so you will have time to build up your foundation .....good luck to you and God bless......Gnarly
