In the hospital and need some help.

WHAT A WEEK!  Admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with severe chest pain.  While in ER they gave me several shots of Dilauded and Morphine and continued to receive the shots about every 6 hours for two days.  My history is I do see a pain mgmt doctor and take approx. 30-40mgs of Lortab a day for the past 3 years.

I discontinued the morphine shots on Thursday but they have been giving me 7.5mg Lortab when requested.  I've only been taking 3-4 of those a day.  On Friday I began to get the cold sweats and pounding heart beat and today they come and go.  I can be sitting in the bed and all of a sudden I begin to sweat for no reason.  I'm also extremely constipated.

I asked the doctor if my sweats and heart beat could be some kind of detox symptom and he said absolutely not.  What do you think?  Could these symptoms be my body detoxing from the dilauded and morphine?

I'VE NEVER abused the drugs...just always made sure I had enough.  Never ran out early or had to call in an early refill so I guess you could say I depenent.  I also meant my blood pressure was 120/80...my bad.

You're opiate tolerant, so 2 days of harder opiates could have raised your tolerance to the pint that yu will get withdrawals. You need to get your BP under control, however. That alone is much more dangerous long term that the relatively small dose of opiates you take daily. Do you consider yourself addicted or just dependent? From your history and low dosage, I'm guessing that you have dependence issues.

Blood pressue is almost always 180/70...I meal AWLAYS.  I've had the nurse take my blood pressure during one of these "sweat" attacks and guess what....180/70.  I dont have a fever but do have a runny nose, cold sweats achy body...ya know..the typical symptoms.  Could 2 full days of hard narcotics cause a person to go into this kind of detox.  I am less than excited to believe a doctor who refuses to recognize my pain.  This is the 3rd time in 8 months I've either been to the er or hospital with this kind of pain.  I'm sick of asking doctors questions and the only reaction I get in return in "Humm...never heard of that before."  WHISKEY TANGO FOXTROT!  What the hell am I paying this guy for?  All he says is "we'll run some more tests>"  I swear if I hear him say that tomorro it will be GO TIME!

It's possible, but the real indication would be your blood pressure and cardiac activity. They can tell by those tests if you're in withdrawals. If they get worse the further away from your dose of Lortabs, and ease up when you take one, then that would be another sign pointing to withdrawal.
