I've been addicted to Narcotic Painkillers since I was 16 and am now 24 and really want to get off. Any suggestions for easing opiate withdrawl??I have cut myself down to 100mg of oxycontin/day

I am 24 years and have been addicted to narcotic painkillers since I was 16 and want nothing more but to get off this stuff. I really don't know what adult life is without painkillers and want to find out what it's like. I am not on here looking for sympathy I simply just want to know if anyone has any suggestions on how to make this easier. I do have access to meds from my pharmicist and I just want to see if anyone knows any names of some meds that will help me end this vicious cycle or if anyone has any other suggestions. I have valium and clonidine right now and a bag of weed in case I need it because I heard it helps with the withdrawls. Thank you for taking the time to read through this, I really appreciate this.

It's so hard for me to imagine people like you that go from childhood/teenage life to adulthood hooked on this ****.

I'm so sorry for you, as I struggle to remember how happy and normal I used to be.  My addiction started at age 30 something, in the middle of a magnificent life for me and my daughter....and I just screwed it all up.

Gawd gurl.....at your youth, pleeeeezzzzeeee do it now.  Experience your youth.

Be brave.

I hope you are serious.  I wish I had the smarts to stop at an early age.  You are right that you have no idea what adult life is about if you have been addicted all these yrs.  Do
it now.  Dont wait.  Get a support system around you that can help for a month or so and start.  It will be terrible. But you will look back soon and thank God for helping you make this decision.  There will be better days ahead.  As Allicat said,  hydrate yourself
constantly, it will help with any cramps, and the exercise will be hard, but is helpfull.  The
adrenaline(sp) rush is something that seemed to help.  You will think that none of this matters while your in the Haze, but just keep fighting one minute, one day at a time. Think small steps not large.  If you need help, please ask.  Your not in this alone.  You can overcome this demon.

Check out the Thomas Recipe...there is lots of good info that will help ease the pain of w/d (bottom right on page). The Valium and clonidine will both help with anxiety and insomnia. LOTS of hot baths, stay hydrated and excercise. Excercise will be hard but try short walks...or even just sitting out in the sun. Anything will help. Staying couped up in the house tends to increase my anxiety and depression. Stay positive and good luck to you on your new venture of life!!
