Hang in there- I had 6 or 9 months clean from methadone- and was experiencing exact same thing you are going thru! I was freaked out cause I would see people 30 days clean smiling and happy for life- thought there was something wrong with me- eventually started using again and can tell you with out a shadow of doubt it is way worst then where you are at now- give it some time- see how you feel in a year (a day at a time) - everyone is different- check out doctors if have insurance maybe supplements or anti depressant can help- hang there
Hi there! From what Ive learned from other members on the forum is that methadone is one of the trickiest pills to get off of. It takes a long long time for your brain to heal and start making those chemicals on its own again. I can tell you from my experience,,,I came off a massive perk addiction. My saving grace this time around was that I sought out aftercare and NA. I also knew that depression was what kept me using the pills,,that was my underlying reason. I did see a doctor and was placed on several antidepressants that have helped me TREMENDOUSLY,,they kinda kick started my brain into producing the chemicals needed to balance you. Some members dont agree with going the anti-depressant road and some do. I do. The pills gave me a false sense of feeling,,I loved them because I could do anything and was happy and energetic,,but then they turned on me and I double and doubled them trying to get that feeling back,,,it never came back. 7 months off methadone is a HUGE accomplishment. HUGE. Its one of the hardest drugs to withdrawal from and the side effects of coming off can linger for a long long time. If this was me,,Id call my doc and ask for something. It took a lil while for me to figure out which antidepressants worked well for me and it was a rollercoaster but when I got the right mix,,,,I took off and flew. I also would get involved in NA again. You have come sooooo far! Hope you feel better soon~Bkitty
Bottom line, it's a chemical imbalance and nothing to be ashamed of. There are several medications on the market and I have heard good things about them. You owe it to yourself to speak with your doctor and find an answer.
Going back on the drugs should never be an option. You have come so far!!
Please hang in there, speak with your doctor and let us know how you are doing.
