3 Weeks Clean

3 weeks ago today if you would have told me I would have made it to where I am today I honestly wouldnt have believed you. It's not even that I made it three weeks, but rather what surprises me the most is my mindset has not changed at all throughout these three weeks. I haven't even almost thought of using again. I feel sort of guilty being on this site sometimes because I was actually the worst kind of user because I began taking oxys and never had any kind of physical pain or reason for trying them in the first place. I ended up having elbow surgery for a baseball injury and the fact that I got 180 Vicodin ES certainly sent me on the downward spiral that began taking place at the beginning of the summer. I had to have pills all the time. Even though I didn't exceed more than 40 mg per day, I needed to know my next high was just around the corner. I decided that I was starting to get into something over my head and I made the decision I was going to quit, because I wanted to. I struggled physically for a few days but it wasnt that bad and I have been 100 percent for at least the last week and a half. I love having money saved now, because as you know oxys on the street are ridiculous. I just find different things to occupy my time now. Before all I needed to have a great time was an oxy, it didnt matter what I did. Most of the time I just wanted to lounge and watch TV. Now I work out every day, play golf, get more done at work, and I have a newfound desire to take my baseball game to the next level and possibly play some pro ball after my senior year this year. Pills put my dreams on hold because when I was at practice all i cared about was either getting my next oxy or getting home so i could finish one off. I got better grades than ever before while on Oxy, but clearly oxys dont make you smarter, they just allowed me to focus. When I get back to school I will find new ways to focus and continue to succeed in the classroom. I havent posted in a few days and I just wanted to give some people hope, because like I said earlier 3 weeks ago this didnt seem possible.

Thank you for that!  Gives those of us who still struggle hope.  Congratulations on 3 weeks.  I'm really happy you have your life back.  I can relate to having dreams put on hold, and sitting around the house waiting for the next high.  Focusing on the guilt, shame which in turn makes me want to use more.  Thanks for the inspiration!
