Long-term support forum

As title suggests, I wonder if there is not a need for a forum community for long-term support.  This community is great, but is skewed towards the short-term wd symptoms and getting through the initial physical pain of wd.  AA &/or NA may be the best choice, but I imagine there are a great numnber of people who can not/will not go to these types of meeting for various reasons.  Or even if they do, some additional support through an online community could help.  I remember reading from a post that getting off an addiction is the easy part...staying off is harder. And it is.  Maybe a forum for "over 30 days clean".  Anyway, just a thought.  btw I am at 73 days, if you could not guess.

Yes I"ll explain it but maybe you should read it again. I didnt say there wasnt recovery here or no one was in recovery or clean,I said that a recovery post wont go far. The original poster felt a lack of interest to his post, someone asked about na/aa on the 27th and got 6 replys and on the 23rd even avis wrote a post about her concern about lack of people suggesting recovery,I was only agreeing,, congrats on your clean time

I do not know enough about the workings of this forum to pursue this idea...doesn't seem to be enough interest anyway, thanks to the couple of positive responses. I think for me it is time to go...good luck to all.

I think theeagle is right you should post some of your ideas about it.It may be something MH would want to look into.
I do go to meetings but coming here and helping others and knowing that I can ask for help anytime is a huge part of my recovery also.I've been here for 11 months today, don't think I'd be where I am without this place and these people.I do understand what you're saying though.I've been fortunate enough to build some great relationships with some wonderful people who have been there with me since the beginning and when I'm struggling I reach out to them through pms.Like theeagle said,it's not a closed subject and any suggestions to aide in the recovery process is worth looking in to.Congrats on your clean time....Keep going!!!!!!!!!!!!!    Kim

I was/am in no way taking anything away from or suggesting abandoning this group...it is greatly helpful both from an information side and a theraputic side for new and old (addicts).  I was/am suggesting a need for a place for someone to go who is further along with their recovery, possibly in addition to outside meetings or in place of if neccessary.

I surely do like that worried878 fella - - seems to feel as I do a lot.  I even made your suggestion to harry and cindy at med help towards maybe 5 or 6 month clean mark..........they were quit receptive and wanted to know what I had in mind.

I believe that I never pursued that any further because helping others get those first critical steps taken is where it (recovery) all begins...............and the beginning is very hard. Hard to admit what you were and hard to admit that you needed more than yourself for this one. But people get it done and they get clean.

I would love to hear what you might want for an agenda on this type of group.......and has it been tried before? Probably NA only one close to it. But NA/AA use tele-meetings these days. Post any nedw ideas or info you can come up with............its not a closed subject and may well be a needed study - - -

i think i would still be drawn to this forum..as helping people and sharing advice really does help many people with their own recovery..it does me anyway..and there are people here who were here when i joined the forum over a year ago..and u r right/many come and detox and u never hear from them again unless they relapse..but others post frequently and keep the forum strong so that people who r new and quitting can feel supported
