WITH THESE HEAVY CHAINS TO CARRY.  I NEED SOME ADVISE, PRAYER.  I WISH I COULD TALK TO SOMEONE,(PHONE). glad to see you back bro.

I will say this, I know what you mean. everyones situation is different. I could not just go into rehab, or could not let certain people know. too much was on the line.  I had to handle it, by myself for the most part. my advise is my advise to you, some would say to go more traditional routes, which they claim will be much more successful.

but you can go to 1 month of detox at betty ford, and it wont do squat if you are not committed %100 and ready to admit  YOU are powerless over the pills. there will never be a reason to continue using on your own. certain ground rules need to be laid down, with the upmost adherance and respect for them. you have to surrender to win the war.

timing is alway a good idea. you need to set the stage at the right time so it dont jepordize your career. a game plan is inorder.........

First off, don't feel ashamed of your situation. Many of us get started on the pills due to some sort of injury. But, that doesn't give us the excuse to keep using forever. I too suffer from back and sciatic pain and came to the realization that opiates are a horrible way to treat long term or chronic pain due to the tolerance our bodies build and need more and more to get the same pain relief. You should be very proud of yourself that you realize you have a problem and are seeking help. While going through withdrawals you will feel like you have the mega flu. Luckily, the worst of the physical symptoms last around 5 days or so if you go cold turkey. After that it is more of a mental battle.
Since it is in the middle of football season and you have a team to coach you may want to do a taper. You could start by cutting back by one pill or half a pill every 3 to 5 days. Just let your body do the talking. If you feel you can cut back faster, then by all means do so. It takes so much willpower to do a taper so you have to be strong and stick to it. If you find yourself taking more than your plan calls for, it's probably time to bite the bullet and just go cold turkey. I have went cold turkey and continued to work and it does make it difficult. In a way it can help though because it keeps you busy and helps take your mind off of it.
On the right hand of the page there is a section called "health pages". There is a amino acid protocol which provides a list of vitamins and supplements that help restore what our bodies are lacking. It really does help. Also be sure to eat healthy, push the fluids, and exercise. I can't stress enough how much the exercise helps. It can be tough to force yourself to do so but even just a short walk around the block helps.
So the first thing to do is get a game plan together. Decide on whether you want to taper or just go cold turkey. Whatever the plan, you need to stick to it. Get the amino acids from the protocol and mentally prepare yourself. Think of it as he!! week that your football players go through. It's such a short amount of time and almost all of them make it through. You can also make it through! Just stay strong and push forward. You will make it and live a clean life! If you need anything, please let us know! Best of luck!

Hey Coach.

I understand your feelings about your addiction.  We have all been there and some of us still are...

I will tell you what I tell everyone.....What works for some, may not work for others.  By that I mean that some of us are able to do it cold turkey, while others need to do some sort of taper program.  I could never successfully do a taper program, becuase I would just eat all the pills I could (forgetting all about the program I had intended to follow).  So, only you know what would be easiest for you.  If you think that you could do a taper program, without cheating, then maybe that is a route you could take.  I did it CT, myself.  I was up to about 20 a day, on average.  Some days less...some days more.  It wasn't easy quitting, and I litterally felt like total sh*t for a good part of a week....but I made it thru.  The withdrawl wont kill you...but it will make you wish you were dead.  But...that's all over in 4 or 5 days or so....and from that point, it gets easier every day.
You can do this....you just have to really, really want it.  And it sounds as if you do.  You have come to the right place for support.  People here are awesome.
Just give us a shout and let us know how you think the best way to tackle this demon is, and we will support you and talk you thru it in any way we can.

Good luck to you, Sir.
