Suboxone is the best thing that ever happened to me. I had a 10 year addiction and I tried everything..detox, NA, cold turkey, and I relapsed every time.  I've almost been clean for a year and I am still taking Suboxone, just a way lower dose then at first. It all depends on how many and bad your problem is.
*They claim if you mix suboxone and any opiate w/in 24 hours, you can have VERY

Always start with less and I am one of those people who love sub. My Dr. had me on it for a few months and would still be on it but decided I didn't want to take it anymore. I did have to take 3 of the 8mg tabs every day at one time. That pill is a 32 hour tab so I got myself able to go every other day with it untill I just decided not to take it anymore and I am doing great now.

Good luck to you,

Hi,
I am on suboxine. Since 6-24-08. It was the smartest thing I ever did.
Your post hit home b/c I use to get that thrown in my face all the time from my husband. "Your not as sick as me", I think maybe its a guy thing,,, I don't know. It's an addict thing!!l  or "how come you feel so bad did you take more then me?" Finally we both went on suboxine. Some people can do it c/t, not me. I used for a very long time, my husband ever longer. You do what you need to do. If it's 4mgs take that. Try 2mg in am if still needed take the other in pm. Do you have script for them? Getting into that program would be good. It makes you go to counseling. When I got sub's off the street one 8mg lasted me 4 days.  Your practically there already. The hardest part is over. Now it's training the mind. If I had a sub & I were you, I'd take whatever I wanted.
good luck to you

that should hold to for at least 24 hrs possbily 2 days and then i would try the same dose again or at most 8 mgs, seeing as with suboxone the lower the dose the better it is. the actualy more opiate effect you will feel.. i wuld say the ideal dose for suboxone is between on 4mgs to 16mgs depending on your addiction and length of dependency. i was on 32 mgs for 7 months and really anything higher than that or even 24 mgs i would say isnt worth it, you actually feel less of an effect and get the oppositie effect-like an opiate antagonist like naltrexone or naloxone, used in opiate overdoses.

thanks to all!  what s great bunch of folks you are.  this forum is making me a better person.

sorry, but i already took 4mgs before reading the last posts.  so i have 12mgs. left, which i will give to hubby.  he is mostly just annoyed with me.  his attitude is, "i kicked a bad heroin habit with no help, so anyone should be able to do it."  he calls what i am going through,"baby withdrawals".  maybe compare to what he went through it is, but that doesn't mean i am not suffering.

waiting for the stuff to kick in now.  so now that i have done 4mgs., any advice on when and how much my next dose should be?

Hon,you're in good hands here with the people who have responded to you. They speak from personal experience,so let them help you. It's hard for our family members. We have to keep in mind that our addiction has not only effected us but them too as well. You're husband is probably feeling what most of our family members have felt because of our addiction, angry, scared, concerned. They have a hard time trusting us because we have given them so many reasons not to in the past.Do you think you're husband would get on here and talk to some of these people who have used the sub?Perhaps being more informed about it would help to ease his fears...Hang in there.....Peace....Kim

always start with less, i dont know your use or history, but if your already 3 days into it, 2 mgs may do the trick, wait an hour and half - possibly 2 hours?, if your not better than you can try the other 2 mgs.  its easier to take more if you need it, if you take too much you cant take it out...even though there is a ceiling effect, i still hear of people who think they may of took too much...
if you have any questions, just let me know...i know quite a lot about sub and how it works...etc.  i also have a lot of informational links if you are interested.
good luck...

well, already had a fight about this with the hubby.  one would think that after kicking years of heroin he would have a bit more sympathy to what i am going through.  he says he will hold the Sub for me, but we fought about how much i should take and how to taper.  i just want to be okay for work, and i don't know how many mgs. that will take.  i was suggesting to him that i take 4mgs, half of one of those pills, but he thinks that it is too much since this is day 3 for me without any opiates at all.  i just don't know anymore.

I've never taken the sub,but I did take methadone and can remember vividly what 6 days off of it felt like,so I can certainly relate. There are a lot of people here who have used the sub, some have positive things to say about it,some not so positive.I know just from reading the posts about it that it seems like the people who have the more positive things to say are the ones who did a short 'scheduled' taper with it.I'm not sure if using it the way you are is going to help or hinder you. It's always best to be well informed.I'm sure more will come along who have personal experience with it.Hang in there...Peace...Kim

I would take a little piece I don't really know how long have you been taking the sub but if you are doing so bad just take a little piece, I back on sub after a little "slip off" of 2 weeks and this time I'm trying to do a 21 day tapper off and also I took half of the sub I was suppost to take so I say yes don't be miserable if you don't have to a little piece every few days should help you not harm you.
Have a better day ok

yeah, this is the worst i have felt physically so far.  yesterday was the emotional roller coaster day.  now i just feel like ****!  it wouldn't be so bad if i didn't have to see clients this evening.  i think i could get through if i didn't have to be responsible to others and just hang out near a bathroom all day(ha ha).  the worst is trying to force myself to eat but i always feel better after i do.

i wish i could have someone hold the sub for me so i could taper.  i would ask my hubby but that has always gotten us inot fights in the passed.  he is P.O.ed that i took the sub at all.

thanks though,
Kova

How bad is your w.d? Are you having any? Do you feel you really have to take the sub. If you are ok now, I wouldn't take the sub. But if you really need to, then take a little piece. I'm sure if you don't start to take it everyday, you won't have to pay a price for it.
