I agree with sooners181 I'm not a medical professional but it seems to me anything OVER the recommended DOSE is an OVERDOSE.And I was always taking over the recommended dose of my DOC.Then I was diagnosed with liver damage,so it may not cause problems immediately but it can down the track.

As defined in the Oxford American Dictionary. Overdose- Too large a dose of a drug. Whether its 1 pill over the prescribed dose or 10. I believe that constitutes an overdose. I believe we are all entitled to our own opinion. That happens to be mine. As an addict I speak for myself only am great at manipulating the truth. Jeff
if I am ordered 2 q 4-6prn pain and I take 4 q 4-6 prn. I am taking over the dose as ordered. You dont have to lose consciousness to overdose
So you're saying if I'm perscribed 1 q 4-6 h prn and I take 2 I'm overdosing? I too work in the medical field and I've never heard of this.
I do not know why you are asking but if it is for someone else or yourself, please do not spend precious time inquiring on the internet. CALL 911!!!
You are wrong! I happen to be a medical professional.
The amount differs from person to person, & occurs when the symptoms of overdose emerge. Some initial overdose symptoms: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, sweating, confusion, weakness. There are more, but easy to find if you search the web.
Just taking an amount over the prescribed dose is NOT the definition of an overdose.

Anything over the prescribe amt. Best wishes
