My best friend is 38 weeks and has used oxycodone a few times during pregnancy

Hi! My best friend is 38 weeks pregnant and has confessed to me that she has used oxycodone a few times during pregnancy. She said she has not used it enough to experience withdrawals. What I'm wondering is, will the baby go through any withdrawals even though she isn't addicted? She said she used them a few times when she developed a condition with her kidney that put her in a lot of pain. The last time she used was about a week ago. She is scared baby will still have withdrawal symptoms even though she's not addicted. Can this happen? Or does the mother have to consistently use opiates for the baby to have withdrawals?

Hi, if you are referring to yourself, it's totally anonymous here, so you can say "I." That person needs to talk to her obgyn asap. CPS will get involved if the mother tries to hide it and something not right when the baby is born. And I'm going to be really honest here: if a woman cannot keep away from opiates during her pregnancy, she has a problem. That's addict behavior. Your friend needs to address her addiction or she will be going down a very dangerous road.
