Painkiller withdrawal

Does anybody have any home remedies or secrets that doctors, etc. just will not tell you (unlike Suboxone) that will help me get through the withdrawal side effects of taking 200mg/day or more of Oxycontin for over a year now?  Trust me I have tried alot including Suboxone and tapering, nothing really works.  Even rehab, made it through but then right back on after a month.

I'm 21 and my mom gave me my first loracet because I would get really bad cramps well I started taking more and more but I didn't get completely addicted untill my mom died of a methadone overdose. I was 4 months pregnant and I could take about 5 or 6 vics a day but I don't want to take them anymore I have a 4 month old daughter and I feel like I can't take care of her without them. I'm really scared and I don't know what to do. I don't have insurance and only my boyfriend and my moms sister knows about it. I can't tell anyone else. What do I do??

I cannot say enough about the amino acid protocol and the Thomas recipe.  These natural suppliments will help minimize and shorten your detox time but you have to get it in your mind that no matter what you take, nothing is going to replace taking the pills.  If you are serious about quitting then it is simple.....Get the suppliments mentioned in the health pages, get rid of ALL opiates, call all sources and tell them to f*** off, take a few days or a week off of work, and get through it!

It sounds like you already know what to expect after going sober for a month before....Everyone here will tell you to get involved in some form of aftercare and I heard it really helps.  You will feel better soon and each day will be better than the next, especially once you get past the two to three week mark.  I wish you the best of luck but until you are commited to NEVER TAKING OPIATES AGAIN it will extremely difficult to maintain sobriety.  Stay away from triggers and find some new hobbies...Good luck and god bless!!!!!

OTC meds do work. As long as you are ready to quit you will be able to do it. I would suggest some aftercare as in going to meetings. Those will help. The withdrawls don't last to long and you will feel much better afterwards. Good luck and I wish you the best!!!

Definitely get Super Snooze by Sundown Naturals or Puritains Pride. You can find it at wallgreens, K- Mart, Wal-Mart, etc.. I don't know if I could have made it without it. I wasn't sleeping at all until I found it. When I started taking it, I was immediately getting 6-8 hours of sleep! And for some reason, it also helped me with the rls. It's not very expensive and definitely worth a shot. Just be sure you check with your doctor as this has many vitamins and I would hate for you to be taking too much of some meds. It is all natural though and non habit forming. I too contemplated Suboxone but after reading around here felt that it would be best to CT. It is not pleasent for several days but the natural stuff really works and will help you get through the thick of it. Good luck!

Yes, there are things you can do, but you have to get through a few days of feeling bad no matter what.  It's the pits, but it will end after a few hard days.

Advil
Epsom salts for baths
Imodium
Mag/cal/zinc supplement ( REALLY helps)
Heating pad
Gatorade and apple juice for potassium
Hylands Restful Legs or Leg Cramps

These things will help, but as you know, nothing will take everything away!!!  Good luck!
