Narco vs butrans patch? Vs addiction

I have herniated disk and other things in my neck. I'm taking 3-4 narco a day. How hard will it be to get off? I know I need it but I'm worried that I'm addicted. My doc says its to much and wants me on something else. Any ideas? Something that last longer, less adicting and won't throw in into WD? Pain management suggested butrans patch? What is that? Should I just deal with addiction cause I need it? Or be in pain and drug free?

Well, I use to get them for my periods do I'd say a year or 2. It works great. When I'm on it I can keep doing all the things I do. When I'm not Im sore and stiff and my neck locks up. So what's worse? Addiction? Or pain and not livin? The pain doc seemed to think that's patch was safer and less addicting? I know what Suboxone is my husband use to be on it to get off his med addiction. You can't use other Nars on it. Is the patch the same?

~How long have you been taking the Norco's? In my opinion stay far far away from the Butrans patch (Suboxone) I hear/read horror stories on this forum daily. Have you tried any non narcotic pain meds for the pain? ~Bkitty
