Need Advise From People Smarter Than Me

Hello All,

I quit a multi-year 8 pill a day norco habit in January. I quit the pills because I decided it was time to stop and stumbled across this forum. I went cold turkey and I think I was one of the lucky ones, I was uncomfortable for a few days and then was fine. Talking to my brother a few days ago I found out my 19 year old niece has been taking vicodin for about 2 years and as the story goes it is now out of control. She has been buying and stealing them from wherever she can. My brother was unaware of my prevoius problem so I figured it was time to open up to him about my experience with pain killers spiralling out of control. To make a long story short my niece will be moving up to stay with my family for a month so I can help her quit the drugs, I have a prescription for 60 10 mg. norcos and am planning to taper her down with those. My question is, after reading the information about amino acids on this forum should she be taking the amino acids as she is tapering or after her last pills? As I said before, withdrawls were do big deal for me but I realize that is not the norm. Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks for all the info and support. My wife will be keeping the pills and be in control of dispensing them.

Smart ones? Yeah, that's why we are all here on the addiction forum.Lmao
Good luck with this endeavor. As Sunny said BE CAREFUL!!! Who will be watching you?

Do start her on vitamins and aminos right away. It will play a big part in her recovery. Vitamins at least twice per day.

Welcome...I bet u never thought you addiction and recovery could help someone u love??  But how great it is that u will understand her, and not judge.....She is lucky to have u....Maybe u can get her dad to read here, so he knows how much these drugs can change a person but that it is fixable....
I know the Thomas Recipie is for when u quit...I am pretty sure the aminos u can take while tapering....
Count yourself lucky that u did not have a terrible detox.....Congrats on being clean...
how do u plan to taper her??  and is she ok with this and really wants to be clean??
